Independence by vote or by force is out of the question. 2 scenarios that are out of reality. The elites in the U.S. and in the island with corporate interest will decide when to evolve to grow the economy on the demands of globalism but I know for a fact, 100%, the U.S. isn't given up power or real estate away.

Puerto Rico statehood has zero chance for a Senate approval, and likely low chance for Puerto Rico to approve statehood. The question is why bring this up now, unless its for independence as stated by Democrat Congressman, or just to throw additional racism onto the flames before midterms. Democrats only want statehood for those two Senate seats. If it did go for a vote for independence, I believe you would get Republican support and enough Democrat support for it to be approved in both the Congress and Senate.

For the most part there is only one (actually 2 Senate seats and ? House seats) reason they are interested in this. how about giving them thier independance.

I feel the same way about giving California back to Mexico. We all can dream. I'm sure many in Hawaii are questioning statehood and the huge tax bill.

The government doesnt act on behalf of the US, it acts on behalf of politicians. The US doesnt have power over Puerto Rico but it does spend a lot of money on PR. So that means there are strong interests in keeping it. Not sure if they would keep it if PR voted that way but that isnt likely since they know they would all be chopping off each other's heads within weeks.

Who the politicians serve? The U.S. doesn't have power in P.R? They control the economy, commerce, routes by air and sea lanes around the island and the banks and every penny that moves around in the island for over 100 years.

if I give 4 billion to have the power to control 112 billion plus owning all the real estate and control of all the jurisdiction that isn't power? So is not a 1 sided deal like some people say here that have no clue in what makes the world go around.

We can have this trade off. I will give you a small change to have power over you and your own the real estate you are living on and you paying monthly payments with interests and I will have jurisdiction over you for life your future generations to come. That isn't power or control? Isn't that why the island was invaded and kept for over 100 years. Power cost money to maintain but is not a freebie.

They want weirdo ideas put into practice , porn in schools, taking away the innocents of 5 year olds in our sicko school systems. This ^^^ is why you can't have a rational conversation on this forum. Democrats want to get rid of Mom and Dad? And inject porn into schools? You forgot to mention they drink baby blood in Satanic rituals!

There is no country in its right mind that would want to be a legitimate state in the dumpster fire that is the U.S.

The Democrats offer nothing worthwhile and under demented Joe Biden, there is no future for this country.

I'll be sitting on the sidelines while the country implodes, waiting for someone competent and capable to get it back on the right track. It isn't going to happen under the current regime.

What was that thing about no taxation without representation?

I'm all for Trump exchanging with Denmark, Greenland for Puerto Rico. Spirit Airlines can fly over Copenhagen, air dropping travel leaflets about Puerto Rico onto the city, get the Danish excited for a new travel destination.
