Can't help you here.

I don't have pro-Putin opinion, just for different reasons than yours most likely, particularly when it comes to this war in Ukraine.

Besides, "the truth" is a very subjective matter in the case of this war.

Ukraine has had all the same problems with corruption as Russia. They both started from the same point: state owned industries on the block to be sold off, and both countries handled it poorly, allowing people with connections in government and connections with criminals to make non-competitive bids and literally steal the wealth of the country. Many Americans were drawn into the moneymaking opportunities this presented. Like Rudy Giuliani pitching his Security firm and a hotelier pitching money laundering schemes.

That part of the world has attracted grifters like flies to dungheaps.

So get real. Ukraine and Russia both had real problems with corruption. Ukraine wanted access to the EU and NATO, and both organizations demanded Ukraine clean up it's act. That is the trajectory Ukraine has been on, dismissing corrupt judges and prosecutors and government officials. The corrupt politicians appealed to Putin to save them from this reformation, and sensing an opportunity to expand his own grift Putin rolled in.

According to independent analysis by the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), 2022 is a bad year for the Russian economy
By the end of 2022, Russia’s gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to drop by at least 3.4% in the best-case scenario and by up to 4.5% in the worst-case scenario.
Russia’s economy will continue to shrink in 2023. Its GDP is forecast to decline by 2.3% year on year in the best-case scenario and by 5.6% in the worst-case scenario.

So in 2 years Russia GDP will shrink by some 10%.
Sanctions, which are responsible for Russia's shrinking economy, will remain in place for years. Meanwhile, the cost of war for Russia is building.
It is about a $1.8T economy, with a $340B budget. Putin’s wager is clearly that Western resolve and support for Ukraine will run out before Russia’s resources will.

There is no reason for Ukraine, who is getting nearly endless support, to negotiate with Russia, who is on Ukrainian territory and is running out of money.

Ukraine had an offer form the IMF and EU. If you watch the documentary oliver stone made called" Ukraine on fire" . He clearly says he did not like the offer that the EU gave. They wanted him to add a tax on all the energy in the country , therefore increasing the price to all Ukrainians . He paused negotiations. Then the riots began.

I suggest you watch this with a open mind and formulate your own opinion of what led up to this war.

10s of thousands new Russian soldiers hitting the front.

USA accusing China of supplying Russia with "non lethal" equipment for their war effort. Many of the people in this thread fervently denied this was going on. That was only wishful thinking.

Our top brass in the USA admit, this war will almost certainly drag on past 2023. The west needs to dig in and prepare for a very long fight. Shutting our steel industries down and watching our manufacturing sector continue to rust and disintegrate is absolutely wrong, foolish, and short sighted. The west is putting profits over our own ability to defend ourselves. Meanwhile, trade between Russia and China has increased 30% last year and this year it will likely surge some more. This is slowly shaping up to be an east vs west proxy war.

And the west's oligarchs (call them what you will) are investing very heavily in China's "grand reopening"... Basically doing the opposite of helping. With "friends" like that, who needs enemies?

The west needs to get it's ducks in a row and decide whose side they are on in this.

The most corrupt country in Europe still can’t decide which corrupt official gets the U.S. tax payer money for a new yacht and mansion.

Who could’ve seen this coming?
