For what seems like the millionth time:
SCOTUS overturning Roe v Wade is not an abortion ban. Do you understand?
It's like dealing with a hormonal teenager...nothing but over reaction and drama. People need to just stop, think it through, then make rational decisions.

The Marines are a part of the Navy. Always have been. The Air Force started as the Army Air Corps. They became separate after WW2. But that ceded the president command being as they were a part of the Army and were made separate by executive decision.

Try again.

You're noticing them, aren't you? That's their point.

And what does it matter if the cities they're protesting in have legal abortion. They're mad about a stupid decision by the Supreme Court and they want to show it. This is how we show our anger. Not everyone can afford to travel to red states to protest.

Do you understand that in the states of: South Dakota, Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ohio abortion is BANNED! And in just a short time, these states will also BAN abortion: Idaho, Wyoming, North Dakota, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, West Virginia, Iowa, Utah, and Indiana.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...alization-roe/

You do know that many poor women can't travel out of their state to get abortions somewhere else, right? And you are also aware that many states are now passing a law to make it illegal for their residents to get an abortion out of state?

What do you call what the Supreme Court did? Allowing states to make their own decisions? Gee, aren't those called states' rights? If we go down that road, why can't states make their own laws regarding slavery or segregation? Can you imagine what would have happened during the Vietnam War if we allowed states the right to not draft anyone?

Our Supreme Court isn't supposed to worry about states' rights. They're supposed to pass legislation that will do the best for the entire country. Why do you think children are supposed to go to school? Why are food stamps a federal program and not a state program?

If you're a woman living in any of the above mentioned states and you can't get an abortion in the state where you live, then abortion is effectively banned. You can spout the 10th Amendment all you want. That still doesn't help a woman get an abortion in any of those states.

The people in those states now have the power, so, vote accordingly locally. They now have much more influence than when the SCOTUS made the decisions.

I certainly hope they'll vote. The people of Kansas finally had enough of Brownback (or whoever he was) and voted his sorry butt out of office.

The problem with voting is that evangelical Christians have an agenda to get their people into positions of power in government and they're the ones who want to pass the laws. It's hard to vote for someone if your choice is limited to the best of the two worst people running. Sort of like the presidential elections have been for the last 40 years or so.

Perhaps it hasn't occurred to you, but this is what the majority of people in these states want. Do you think that people shouldn't be allowed to govern themselves if you don't happen to agree with their choices?

Do they not teach civics anymore? The role of the Supreme Court is not to pass legislation. That's the job of Congress (at the federal level) or state legislatures. The role of the Supreme Court is to interpret the Constitution and pass judgement on whether or not any particular law (at least one that's brought to their attention) is in accord with the Constitution or not.

Ummm...what concern is it of people who live in these blue cities they are trashing what another state does? "You" (as you included yourself by use of the term "we") ae so angry about the abortion laws in a state clear across the country that you set your own front yard on fire?

Yeah I guess I can't help but notice since it's all over every news site FB CD and every other site I play around on. Except the sword collecting building and buying site I like to go to. Think I'll ust go there for a bit and take a break.
