I agree. Regardless of how I feel about Pelosi, we shouldn’t let ChIna prohibit us from sending representatives to other countries.
Taiwan is part of China. We accept this as part of our deal with China. So, yeah, no, we don't get to do whatever we want in taiwan. Unless you want a war over taiwan, which China will definitely win (ask the US Defense Dept analysys) and there will be no more taiwan as it is today left.
China should use this great opportunity to send military escort flights over taiwan to make sure the Speaker's plane arrives and lands safely in Taibei. Then, the PLAAF should be sending regular air force sorties over taiwan to make sure all is safe for the Speaker during her visit. Once she leaves (escorted by PLAAF jets out of taiwan's airspace of course), PLAAF sorties over taiwan will continue as China assumes airspace safety and security over taiwan, penghu and all outlying islands currently under taiwan's control. China wants to make sure that beautiful taiwan is safe and secure from any danger from foreign threats and the PLA is ready to serve.

Yep. That's exactly what Red China is looking to do. They can gain total air supremacy without firing a single shot. Militarily it brilliant. Not even DS 1 1991 gained air supremacy so easily. Taiwan has some very good planes and pilots and the Chicomms would take pretty serious losses before they just take the airspace over Taiwan by sheer force of numbers. Those lost planes and pilots would be a serious loss of face.
Loss of face is a big deal with Asian cultures. This way they put that loss of face on the US (can we lose more than what Biden and the cackling ditz already have) and from there taking over the South China sea in its entirety as Chicomm territorial waters is a short jump. That gives them a complete stranglehold on all shipping and trade in the region.
Oh goody. Say what you will about Trump but he had the Chicomms on a leash. Another thing that would happen if the Chinese take Taiwan is South Korea would be next up for communist aggression. I'm surprised we haven't heard more rumblings from the short round Pokemon as to that. Thanks to the Joey Bidet puppet show the US is exactly what the Chinese said we were back in the 70s. A paper tiger.

Taiwan may be a part of China in the eyes of the Chinese Communist Party, but it most certainly is not in the eyes of the Taiwanese people. And if we place any value in all our talk about freedom and self-determination, we will side with Taiwan. We need to stop being so dependent on Chinese trade and start standing up to them. It's the only language that bullies understand.
in all honesty China already started WW3. most Americans just dont know it yet.
Let's be real. Not that the Chinese government is a friend to us, but they didn't stick a gun to our head and demand that we abandon our factories and offshore our manufacturing to them and thus become beholden to them. Nope, that was a choice that we made ourselves. Blame the greedy CEOs if you want, but if the American consumer refused to buy the cheaper Chinese products and insisted on buying American-made products, even at a price premium, we'd still have a lot more of our manufacturing base. Of course, if greedy unions didn't demand sky-high wages and inflexible work rules, maybe there would have been less incentive to offshore. And on and on it goes.
There's plenty of blame to go around for the situation we find ourselves vis a vis China. But China itself is fairly far down on the list.
