Again -- it is not one million dead FROM Covid; it is -- MAYBE -- one million dead WITH Covid. (Again, MAYBE -- I doubt it is nearly that high.)

The first 1/2 million number was pure speculation. Testing was barely a thing and everyone got Fed funding for writing CV 19 on a death cert that made it possible for the poor to cover funeral costs.

I know enough people who have died or have been impacted with horrible health issues from Covid that I don't care what you call it.
