our poor have free healthcare (medicaid)..can get section 8
and the difference between France and the USA in longevity is a whopping 18 months
and they are healthier due to LIFESTYLE... less junk food, they actually walk to the market
18 months is a big big deal.
They're healthier because they have access to better healthcare, less stress, and better quality of life. There is junk food in France, there is a boulangerie or patisserie on every corner.
You cannot compare $/month as this distorts the fact they have a much higher quality of life. Compare their life expectancy which is much higher.
What’s your definition of “much higher”? The difference is between 18 months and 3 years. If you were talking a decade, that would be significant. 80 vs. 90 is a big jump. 80 vs. 82, not so much.

uhm...bread and pastries is not junk.... hamhocks, fried twinkies, oreos, poptarts, Mcdonalds, KFC are
they (the poor) dont have better healthcare... we have medicaid, which covers 100% for the poor
less stress....how do you figure that
better quality of life...again, how do you figure that... that is an OPINION and an assumption... you know what happens when you assume

The difference between the USA and Botswana is around 7-8 years.
2-3 years is a big deal, especially considering the wealth of the USA.
This masks that they will have profoundly more QALY (quality adjusted life years).
Would you rather be poor in France or the USA? I'd pick France!
The point is that the so called poor Americans aren’t really poor. They don’t even know what poverty is.
Well said. Americas poor has iPhones, car payments, rims, jewelry, stereos, trips to Miami and Vegas, tattoos, Gucci, Air Jordan, gym membership, Netflix, amazon, uber, crypto, air conditioning, running water, plumbing, fridge full of junk food, access to endless fast food via doordash.
America has the richest poor people on planet earth, just look at the obesity rate among the poor. They're not missing meals.
Yes those who were already near the top or the top of the middle benefitted. But those at the bottom are still at the bottom with little hope of doing better. Somehow the bounty at the upper levels never trickles all the way down to the bottom.
Little hope? Or little effort? Poor money management results in a poor lifestyle. Even 70% of rich families lose their wealth by the 2nd generation, and 90% by the 3rd.
Compare American poor to those in W Europe, Canada, or Australia.
Why? Poor people in other countries are not poor?
We are talking about "trickle down" or "pouring down" here. The rising tide lifts all boats. The point that American poor people are at least middle class in the world means exactly that.
If the American poor is only slightly better or the same as the poor people in the world, then "trickle down" doesn't work.
Well, the American poor people are at least middle class when we compare them to some real poverty.
