Clearly Garland and Wray need to be impeached when the Rs control congress. And the whole DOJ and FBI needs a deep cleaning out. But how do we stop future weaponizing of these institutions??!
The Dems have set such a corrupt precedent now, will we ever have any faith in the justice department again??
The problem with this raid over allegedly classified documents is that the basis of the raid seems dubious as there is no set procedure for the president to declassify a document and the president can essentially declassify a document at will just by speaking about it: https://www.politifact.com/factcheck...y-anything-an/
That and the FBI/DOJ treated Hillary with kid gloves when she had classified information on her servers, which presents a clear double standard in the implementation of justice. The FBI's actions here are a disgrace.
Why is the DOJ leaking to the press? two senior government officials told Newsweek an exclusive? so the DOJ is speaking to these 2 senior officials and telling them their operations and investigation and they turned around and leak to Newsweek? This is already a Banana Republic.
If the story is correct the DOJ would have come out already and say it but instead We have leaks from 2 anonymous senior officials giving details and defending the DOJ. Strange.
You know there is going to be a hearing like Iran Contra next year. Congress will subpoena the DOJ and put people under oath. I hope these 2 senior officials comes to testify under oath.
The DOJ is leaking to the press so that Donnie thinks there is a mole at Mar-a-Lago, whether it is true or not.
“Evidence” of what? According to some theories here, he had every right to have those government-owned documents in his possession. To plant evidence at Mar-a-Lago means they were already planning a second warrant and raid to “find” the “evidence”. If evidence was to be planted, the FBI would have had their mole do it in secret before the raid.
“Planting evidence” is all an advance ploy to try to negate the feasibility of the as yet unpublished warrant issued for as yet unknown reasons. All we know is that there was a warrant and a raid and boxes of “stuff” removed by the FBI.
Was Trump under attack by his political opponents, who are using taxpayer-funded agencies to carry out those attacks, before now?
Not that I know of. And I don’t know that that’s the case now.
It’s amazing how a guy that’s been investigated in the past and found to have defrauded his charity and ripped off his customers, amongst other legal transgressions (in a court of law) is suddenly only being investigated for political reasons.
He’s had tons of run ins with the courts before this political phase.

What is going to happen if they did find document he was hiding that he shouldn't have had? All the Trump fanatics will claim (again with zero evidence) that it was planted.
I assume that presidential declassification is a formal process similar to what happened with the investigation into Saudi Arabia on 9/11, just taking papers out of the White House doesn't amount to declassification. This has been going on since February and there was never any public discussion of declassification and I haven't heard his lawyers claim the documents were declassified.
Besides, a previously raised point is that classified or not they don't belong to him.
The fact that a judge saw probable cause makes this much more serious.

The reason Trump took the 5th because the process is corrupt from the DA which you ignore. You ignore the facts that the N.Y. DA is corrupt and is political tainted making campaign promises to nail Trump at whatever cost and Trump will NEVER get an impartial trial under her jurisdiction but you don't care because you want to nail Trump at all cost.
Instead of you demanding that the DA recuses herself this is a witch hunt , you ignore the elephant in the room at keep attacking Trump for taking his only defense which is the 5th.

Short answer: Trump's deposition was not necessary. Tish James asked over 400 questions about what she has found during the course of her investigation, all of which she could already answer. This was not a criminal investigation, although it could be upgraded now that Trump has refused to defend himself.
This was Trump's Big Chance to explain how his business practices were legal and well within the bounds of normalcy. He had a solid opportunity to demonstrate that everything James worked so hard to find was nonsense, and that he was an innocent man. Had he responded to the questions, it would have postponed any action towards resolution until she could go back and compare his testimony with her notes.
What he did by pleading the Fifth across the board was to leave everything to her discretion, and she will certainly go to court with her findings, at which time Donnie can either testify under oath or simply let things take their course without disputing anything she presents.
Trump is now between a rock and a hard place on this one.
