Bannon received his sentence on Friday after being found guilty in July on two counts of criminal contempt of Congress for failing to comply with a subpoena issued to him regarding the investigation into the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
Holder, a Democrat who served in former President Barack Obama's administration, was held in contempt by the House in June 2012 "for failing to disclose internal Justice Department documents in response to a subpoena." The White House and Justice Department did not attempt to criminally prosecute Holder after the contempt citation, CNN reported.
"Double standards are the DOJ's only standard!," one Twitter user, @Pscc8082, tweeted Friday after comparing Bannon's case to Holder's.
And this particular gathering of congressmen is, in fact, contemptible.
The Constitution gave Congress the power to stage investigations... based on the idea that Congress would not abuse their power.
But this gathering of Congress flunks that test cold. How could any normal person NOT feel contempt for Congress under these circumstances?
The basis of your objection, and the MAGA folks' position, is simply that the January 6 assault on the Capitol, and the attempt to set aside the constitution and the election, based on an absolute and provable lie perpetrated by the president, is nothing more than a simple protest. Only a rowdy parade - not important or threatening to the constitutional transfer of power. The world knows otherwise. The evidence points to a high-level conspiracy. The committee hearings were established legally and carry the full weight of Congress. One cannot choose to ignore it or pretend that it is a fake committee. The GOP attempted to sabotage the committee from the start and fosters the idea that it has no authority. That is a fool's position, and Bannon is a fool, along with any others with the same opinion. He can think about it from his cell.

It's appropriate because they are elected representatives. That's our democracy at work. The Republicans have hosted their own share of investigative committees in Congress. I have no sympathy for your position.

All these people advocating for an autocratic form of government forget that when the door swings their way, there won't be any defense/process by which they can protest their innocence. It all sounds "macho" until they get swept up and are put to death as a trivial elimination of someone who may or may not have violated what used to be laws in America.
Think about that before you go spewing "we'll get even rhetoric". The next "get even" subject could be you. Protest all you wish. They don't care. It's not about YOU; it's about them/Donald.
A contempt citation is not punishment but an urging to do something required of a person. Maybe Holder later complied.
