At least 10% of its state lawmakers identify publicly as LGBTQ, believed to be a first for any U.S. legislature.

California -- always ahead of the curve.

The pictured flag is likely to become the official California state flag sooner than later.

There is nothing wrong with that, the People have spoken. I can't help but wonder though whether their winning was due to them being the best person for the job OR if it was a sympathy Virtue signaling give yourself a pat on the back for being so brave and Progressive vote that handed them the win....?

not sure how that matters, although I will give that community props in that maybe they will contribute to better fashion sense and physical fitness in Congress. To embrace a positive cliche...

In which direction is the curve heading? I'm not so sure it's a good direction.

Yep. Before reading this thread, I could have guessed this number within 1 percentage point. It's a good thing when elected officials somewhat match the demographic mix of their constituents.

Who cares?

Here is a novel idea for conservatives, let people do what they want/be who they are.

I know you don’t like that when it doesn’t apply to anything that isn’t guns or wealthy people. But that is freedom.

Since about 10% of Americans are LGBTQ, it is probably true that 10% of legislators are LGBTQ in every state. The only thing different about California is they are more likely to "identify publicly" as such.
