Man, if we just let this thing sail across our Country out into the Atlantic and don't seize it I think that is a weak move.

As a last resort, it should be shot down over the ocean and retrieved by the Navy and/or Coast Guard.

Many previous reports stated the balloon was over the Aleutian Islands, which are part of Alaska. The Japanese learned this as well during WW2 (it was Russian owned).

Retired Air Force Lieutenant General David Deptula says otherwise. He said we do have aircraft that can take it down and that it should have been dealt with while it was still over the Pacific (as some of us had already said). He also thinks Biden* is just going to let it go after it gets to the Atlantic.

I think we should hijack the balloon, put our own "weather" equipment on it and float it over China.

What is Canada saying about it?
Were they upset it flew over their country?

So the best course of action is to err on the side of safety, particularly given the thing apparently is no threat to national security. There is no need to chance it with anyone's life or property other than machismo and misplaced patriotic fervor. Maybe now that it is about to pass out sea, they can take it out and see if can be recovered.
Wonder why Americans were sent to Afghanistan at peril to their lives based on the logic above.

Sometimes good people are put in harms way to remove bad people. We usual honor those that do.

Canada likes the China military and wanted, or allowed, them to train in Canada.
