For the final legislation. Ronnie appoints the members of the board but somethings will stay in place until Jesus comes back, and Ron signed the agreement.
2023:
Looking to avoid the implications of abolishing the district, the Legislature held a special session in February of this year, during which state lawmakers decided to allow Disney to keep the special tax district and other perks.

But the company, which employs roughly 80,000 people, is no longer able to appoint the members of the tax district’s five-member oversight board, a power now held by Mr. DeSantis.

The company also pushed through a development agreement that would limit the new board’s power, a little-noticed move that was only belatedly discovered by the governor’s appointees.

At a public meeting held in early February, the previous, Disney-controlled board passed restrictive covenants and a development agreement that gave the company widespread control over future construction.

The agreement is effective for perpetuity and uses language known as a “royal lives” clause: “Shall continue in effect until twenty one (21) years after the death of the last survivor of the descendants of King Charles III, King of England living as of the date of this declaration.”

Gasp, how dare he have an opinion just like Disney and every other citizen is allowed. Always love the hypocrisy.
That’s not what I stated, he didn’t deny their opinion, he used his office in an attempt to punish them for criticizing his gag order.

And nobody said otherwise to even bring it up.

Interesting how you’re using one persons opinion that you linked in an article to make the accusation.

Actually, a better example would be the town of Ave Maria, Florida which was entirely built around the concept that residents wanted to follow ‘good Catholic values’. IIRC the Walgreen’s there agreed not to carry birth control pills or something like that.

Lots of articles on the web about Ave Marie for the curious.

The overwhelming response to the development of Ave Maria has been that it sounds a little quirky but it’s not like anyones’ being forced to live there so the whole project is just kind of ….whatever.
The Scientologists had a real hard hold on Clearwater. I remember they never got investigated- it was hands off . Saw weird stuff like I would expect in the LDS churches.
Funny how these folks are mainly left alone to their devises.

What accusation ? Ronnie likes to punish people. Maybe got twisted in Guantanamo Bay, who knows, but it’s his MO and everyone knows it.
Anyhow- hope you understand that Disney lost nothing but a few board members in this whole game.

Back to the point, you're ok with Desantis using his office to retaliate against Disney?

The county just gave Disney the authority, based on the agreement, to construct without permits. Electric Utilities do the same thing. How do I know this? That's what I did for 35 years for a electric utility.

Disney used standard practices not permits. They had 'permission'.... and this is not uncommon for unique construction projects. They give the county "as builts". The county engineers might have input, but no permits are issued. The county may hire a engineering firm to overview, but the permit allowed Disney to build without permits.
Nice description but even if the original park was built that way, that was then and this is now and nothing shows that this practise is still going on. For all the hotels that have been built on the property that expertise is more than available for county inspectors to evaluate and issue permits for the projects and nothing has been posted or linked that reflects this is still the practise.

With out looking for county records. Here’s some chatter regarding permits DW was obtaining some years ago. What they did have was a fast track with out going through planning committees, councilmen, outside studies, public Town halls etc. but all is up to code. When you go there, you will see the paperwork in elevators or restaurants etcet.

That article is from February, they are not losing their special tax status but they will have a new board that has a certain degree of oversight. Desantis wanted to revoke the special taxing district, that is not happening.

DeSantis bit off more than he can chew not only did he not gain more power over Disney he is on the hook for the cost of the maintenance. I suppose his supporters won't even know anything about this since they can hardly understand anything more than the word "Woke". DeSantis will lose in 2024 and be term limited as governor that will be the end of him after that.

Disney has the best law firms in the country working for them DeSantis has staff attorney's making $80k a year. They can appeal all they want won't get anywhere but DeSantis can keep it in the news media maybe helps him fund raise.

Perhaps you should read the article the poster I responded to linked to know what you’re talking about.

So many claims and allegations about Ronnie. Right up there with he’s bought and paid for, hires illegals to work for him, should be sued, etc…. You’re going to complain about him no matter what he does and says.

Them losing some perks is a good thing, and it’s not over yet… but what is over is banning CRT, sexual orientation, and gender identity being taught to young children. You just don’t like it.
