Lawsuit: Jackson Memorial barred lesbian from seeing dying partner -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

One of the most heart-breaking stories I've heard in a while. Gays are not trying to ruin marriage, they are trying to live their lives with dignity, and protect their loved ones. This is just sad for 2008. ::: Lost For Words :::

The video is really sad.

While I don't believe gays should be married, this is sad and they should be allowed benefits such as hospital visits. It could be accomplished in a way other than marriage.

You're right. We would not want to hurt the pride of straight people. Seperate-but-Equal in 2008

Its not about pride, its about not spitting in the face of God in a time when we need His blessings more than ever. In the 1960s, seperate but equal was anything but equal. Today, however, civil unions and marriage can be made completely equal while keeping God out of it.

Forget 2008. Lets go back to 1958, when we as a nation had morals, decency, and the highest respect for the nuclear family and we were still one nation under God. And remember those times - things were actually going good for America in that era. We must have been doing something right! What people today call "progress" isn't progress at all.

I'm pretty sure that's "discrimination" and not an issue of marriage. Our founding fathers seperated Church from State, as I've always said the government should get its hand out of marriage, Gays/Lesbians should be allowed civil unions, if you believe your marriage as a pact between your partner in the eyes of God and your Church allows it, that is between you and your Church.

Civil marriage has nothing, I repeat, NOTHING to do with God or religion.

Ever hear of separation of church and state? The Establishment Clause of the First Amendment to the Constitution? Google it.

If it is all the same, then why not everyone be civil-unioned (gay and straight) and call it a day?

There ya go, great idea. Then if you want a MARRIAGE in your church, go for it. Makes sense to me. If we were truly fighting over a "word", I'd say call it gay "diffendoofer" (thanks, Dr. Seuss!) and let me do it, for all I care, as long as the reality and rights and benefits are the SAME.

But sadly, we're not, and it's not.

How about we just do away with all automatic benefits that come with legal marriage, and leave it strictly to the churches?

Yeah, that would go over well.

It is a lack of respect for each other's differences is what is. I'll leave you with a story from Dr. King.

Dr. King went to a dining establishment with some of his white co-workers. They were allowed to sit in the main dining room, but Dr.King was escorted to a private room. It was just as nice, had the same silver ware, same table cloths, food came from the same kitchen, etc...

Dr. King stopped the waiter and asked him why he had to sit away from his company. The waiter responded, "Why are you complaining? You are eating from the same china pattern, getting the same quality of food, the same quality of service. What more do you want?"

Dr. King replied, " I want whatever it is you are keeping from me by NOT letting me sit in the main dining room."

Gays don't want to settle for the seperate but equal sh*t. We want what is in the main dining room. That's dignity and respect if you did not know what Dr. King was talking about.

You don't need the bible to tell you that something is wrong. You need the bible to convince you that doing something wrong... is right.

If you want dignity and respect, you can start by putting some clothes on and stopping the public sex orgies you call "pride parades" and show America you really are normal, decent citizens.
