We were waiting for the bus to take us to work the other day and he told me that he hung out with his ex gf and her "partner" the other night. I was curious about this and he said that neither had ever been in a same sex relationship prior to meeting one another but are now committed homosexuals, for the time being.

It's the cool thing to do nowadays. Gay is the new trend. Been to your local high school lately? There's more "lesbians" and "bisexuals" there than you can shake a stick at.

I'm not sure if it is that cool to be gay in high schoool, but it is definitely nice that homosexuals are not shunned anymore. They have the same right to be happy as anybody else.

Besides, let the coworker's girlfriend experiment a bit. Where's the hurt in that?

The sexuality of women is much more fluid than men. From what I can see, a great number of women are bi-sexual.

Why not, who does it hurt?

There's also a greater chance of a date on a Saturday night!

That's my understanding too, as a gay man. I never felt any attraction to women, and that seems to be how it goes for gay men. I don't really understand how you could be happy with a hetero relationship, and then go to a gay relationship, but I'm not a woman so I won't try to understand! But people don't "turn gay" to be cool. It's not some trendy thing to do.

I see people flaunt their homosexuality but never a heterosexual. Which brings me to another point... gays tend to mimic their opposite sex, why is this? Like a "butch" woman or a man with an exaggerated lisp and a woman's demeanor (stance, gate(sp), dialogue...) Why is this?

Glad to see that we all agree that, yes, sometimes homosexuality is indeed a choice.

An interesting discussion about the "trendiness" of being gay here:
