My gay friend was kicked to the ground, his head stomped on, nose shattered... simply because he was gay. Any Mormonbashing going on lately?

Violence against LGBT people - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quote:
-The rape and later murder of Brandon Teena, a transsexual man (1972 – 1993).
- The July 1, 1999, murders of gay couple Gary Matson and Winfield Mowder by white supremacist brothers Matthew and Tyler Williams. Matthew Williams claimed that by killing the couple he was following "obeying the law of God," because he believed homosexuality violated God's laws. Williams said he hoped his actions would inspire further violence against homosexuals and ethnic minorities.
- The murder of Steen Fenrich by his stepfather, in September 1999. His dismembered remains were found in March 2001, with the phrase "gay ****** number one" scrawled on his skull along with his social security number.
-One notorious incident of gay-bashing occurred on September 22, 2000. Ronald Gay entered a gay bar in Roanoke, Virginia and opened fire on the patrons, killing Danny Overstreet and injuring six others. Ronald said he was angry over what his name now meant, and deeply upset that three of his sons had changed their surname. He claimed that he had been told by God to find and kill lesbians and gay men, describing himself as a "Christian Soldier working for my Lord".[19]
- On July 31, 2003, 37-year-old Glenn Kopitske was killed by 17-year-old Gary Hirte. Hirte pleaded insanity, claiming he killed Kopitske in a murderous rage after a consensual sexual encounter with the victim, because he felt a homosexual act was "worse than murder."
- On June 5, 2004, Jamaican Gay rights activist Brian Williamson was murdered with a machete, suffering several stab wounds to neck and face.
-On January 28, 2005, Ronnie Paris, a three-year-old African American child died due to brain injuries resulting from abuse by his father. According to his mother and other relatives, Ronnie Paris, Jr., would slam his son into walls and force him to "slap-box" because he was concerned the child was gay and feared his son would grow up a sissy.
-In September 2005, Lauren Harries, a former child antiques expert who had gender realignment surgery to become a woman, her father and brother were attacked by 8 young men in their home in Cardiff. According to court, the youths were shouting and swearing and were heard to shout out the word "tranny" - a term of abuse associated with hate crime.[21]
-In February 2006, Gisberta Salce Júnior, a homeless Brazilian transsexual living in extreme social exclusion in the Portuguese city of Oporto, was tortured and anally raped with sticks over a period of three days and then thrown into a pit and left to die in an abandoned construction site. A group of twelve to fourteen adolescent boys between the age of 12 and 16 admitted to committing this crime.[23]
There are already 9 incidents for 2008 alone listed in that link.

It's important to note that these crimes were perpetrated almost exclusively by
1. hetero
2. males
3. claiming to be religious

It's not enough to reject it in their own lives. They take the steps of targeting/luring gays, of participating or inflicting sexual acts themselves, and follow through with an act of violence.

LDS cries foul over white powder? Where was your outrage for rape and murder? What part do you play in feeding hatred even as we speak? Same is true for EVERY denomination of christians-- catholics, baptists--- look hard and long at what's being done in the name of your god and sponsored by your church every moment they fail to renounce this behavior.

It is absurd to single out the LDS church when the Catholic chuch and other African-American churches campaigned and donated money to Yes on Prop 8.
First you should understand that they are not attacking Mormons in general, but the decisions that the leaders of the church made in supporting the measure.

Also people are not just protesting the LDS church they are also protesting all other churches that supported it. You should watch the news.

It is absurd to single out 1/10 of the population and take away a right that was already given to them under the state constitution, just because your religion says it is wrong. How would you feel if all of the Orthodox Jews rallied to get pork banned? Of course it would be ridiculous.

You are also being incredibly hypocritical because you are passing judgment on them, but saying that they can't do the same to you. Also you singled out African Americans on your post, so I wouldn't get so mad about people singling out the LDS church.

The government has no right to enforce religious rules about whom a person chooses to marry. This is what is making the protesters so mad. If you think being gay is wrong, then you don't have to participate. No one is making you be gay or even saying that you have to agree with it.

The point is the the LDS church gave over 20 million dollars of it's followers' money to this cause, when unless you are gay, it is really none of your business. So I think that they have a right to be angry and to call the Church out on its bigotry. Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the Mormon Church-period.

Its despicable. Or do you not think so?

Apparently my outrage for rape and murder is about as tepid as your outrage for white powder being sent to churches.

In other words, hatred is okay if its directed at people you dont like? We are all now painfully aware of that.

People dont grasp that or they do and dont care.
Gays are NOT telling non gays they cant get married . It is some non gays telling gays they cant get married.

Thus gays are not shoving their agenda on anyone . It is "anyone" who is shoving his/her agenda on gays.

Gays have had enough .
I do think most Dem politicians who I never could stand are hypocrites and now when push comes to shove like cowards they hide in the shadows afraid of doing a thing.

Yet every article or news story on this issue focuses on their religion. The one religion picking on is still okay.

The last 2 weeks illustrates that.

My friend was beaten SPECIFICALLY because he was gay.

They followed him down the street yelling "HEY F*****!" "CMERE F*****".

There is a big difference. No one is picking on them because they are LDS. They were not targeted for murder because they are LDS. You cannot compare that to a gay bashing in any way, and to do so is a little ridiculous.

Unfortunately, by targeting a large group of people - your church asked for it. What did they expect, that gay people would roll over and bow to their will? Don't dish it out if you can't take the heat, sorry.

The bottom line there is evidence of clergy being harrassed over their doctrine. Either a person thinks that's okay or a person thinks its wrong. Im sensing that you have no problem with it.

Oh, but here's another case of a Priest being investigated for preaching what the bible says.
