Ohh tell me about it! I remember watching the original Mr Smith goes to washington in black and white wishing it were ever true. Seems there's no place in washington for an honest man (or woman) to exist. Just look what it is we require these people to wade through to get anything done? Look how the reward system is set up for them? The only way I can imagine fixing politics as they are known now and restore statesmanship is to remove all campaign monies and lobbyists from the equation--- let them stand on merits of identifying problems and offering solutions. No dogma, no attack ads, no filled up mailboxes and trash in the neighborhood. Cspan debates only.
Can't pass the buck entirely on politicians. Sometimes we've got someone like Ron Paul trying to do right by us and he isn't given the credibility he was due. Too bad republicans blew him off, because a plan in hand would have been a whole other election in light of the economic crisis. Unfortunately they were too busy denying any problem existed.
(sorry repubs, don't mean to rub salt in wounds). Dumb down voters with one enquirer scandal after another and another-- faux news--- the constituency themselves deserve equal blame for buying into garbage for as long as they have.
