The non-Hezbollah Lebanese got rid of Syria. And although Hezbollah itself didn't endorse their departure, many Shi'ite Muslims who support Hezbollah participated in the anti-Syria protests. Shi'ites don't like Syria. The Syrians are hated by most Lebanese, of all affiliations and all religions. But the Lebanese can't live without Syria. The minute Syria closes its boarder with us, the Lebanese lose their food and supply shipments and the economy crashes. It is for this reason that Syria is not considered any official enemy whereas Israel is. So, when you hear Christian and Sunni Muslims right-wingists calling for making Syria an enemy you stop to think. The main ones who call for classifying Syria as an enemy and opening up and befriending Israel are the far-right Lebanese from the Guardians of the Cedars and the South Lebanon Army parties, most of whom have emigrated from Lebanon. That said, 4/5 of the Lebanese are willing to improve relations with Israel, including Hezbollah, as long as Lebanon gets what it wants and its a fair agreement.
Now its only in the power of Hezbollah to get rid of Israel. Israel takes Hezbollah seriously, and is willing to negotiate with them because Israel nows fighting Hezbollah would be devastating to Israel. Over the summer, they exchanged prisoners and bodies. I've long oppposed Hezbollah holding weapons, and wished that it would turn them over to the army or at least absorb itself into the army. Hezbollah refuses, because they claim history shows the army wouldn't attack Israel if they situation called for it, such as if Israel invaded Lebanon. And although the Lebanese Army has fought anyone who has been a threat to Lebanon, such as terrorists, the Palestinian militias, the Syrian army, and many decades ago when Lebanon was prospering and "the Paris of the Middle East" it fought Israel when it needed to, although remaining neutral for the most part. This is an ideal army that should return, and politically, I wish Hezbollah would have their military wing join the Lebanese Armed Forces. But we're not talking politics here.

Israel did not exist in 1947. It grabbed land and declared independence in 1948. The UN acquiesced in its theft in 1949.

The Arabs were not going to launch a war in 1967. Yitzhak Rabin said so himself. Nasser didn't have the manpower. Brezhnev also called him and told him to call it off.
Every single battle in 1967 was on Arab soil. Not counting the Israeli attack on the Liberty, that is.

djacques, you sound like my Egyption tour guide. According to Egypt, they defeated Israel. Islamic nations are famous for exagerating or fabricating information to make themselves look good. Sort of like how Palestinians stage funeral outrages. There's a popular video online in which the funeral stopped when the casket falls. In the video, the body in the casket gets up, gets back into the casket, and lays still while the people pick up the casket again to begin chanting for the cameras again.
