It is extremely hard to attempt to change the minds of those who have joined The Church of Global Warming. They like to say they joined it because of scientific data, but because they have accepted it as doctrine and dogma, they won't listen to any further detailed data.

Well first, it's global climate change. And to those who are opposed to it, may I ask? Why exactly are you opposed to this? Why are you so against it?

And pigs were seen flying in the same vicinity.

What other alternate realities shall we choose from? Saddam had WMD? Iran is going to secretly kill us all, and Israel, while we dither? That George W. Bush actually was elected in 2000?

There are plenty to choose from.

Theyve long been exposed to corporatist rightwing spinmeisters, including Rushie back in the 90's, that a scientific issue is a political one.

So these small brains all believe that science is politics, and that temperatures not only going up in a very unusual pattern, but that the changes in ecosystems all over the world from rising temperatures is somehow a politically created "climate change", and that somehow its all a Democratic plan to tax big business to quit polluting or that its "cyclical" or some other alternate reality that ignores the billions of tons of fossil fuels we've spewed into the atmosphere and their warming effects

And taxes are the boogieman to these people.

Of course, the climate is changing, has always changed and will continue to change. Every time we discover a prehistoric animal frozen and preserved in ice we know that at one time that ice was liquid. And we know that these alternating periods of heating and cooling have occurred since long before evil conservative white men started building factories and driving vehicles powered by fossil fuel burning internal combustion engines. We also know that at one point in history Greenland was actually green. And we know that some of the global warming alarmists of today were the global cooling alarmists of the 1970s. And that more than 99% of all carbons emitted into the atmosphere have come from volcanic eruptions. And that there is not a single shred of evidence that climate change is caused by anything other than changes in solar activity. And finally, we are not causing the cyclical melting and refreezing of the icecaps on Mars.

Because climate change is a normal cycle of the earth, is it not? Also, politicians have been selling this idea as a way to introduce carbon taxes. And finally, you can check out this article where scientists state that there is not a clear understanding as to how humans are causing global warming.

Also, take a look at the following quote and maybe you can explain to me what does 'came up with the idea' and 'designating these threats' mean.

In searching for a common enemy against whom we can unite, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine, and the like would fit the bill. In their totality and their interactions these phenomena constitute a common threat which must be confronted by everyone together. But in designating these threats as the enemy, we fall into the trap, which we have already warned readers about, namely mistaking symptoms for causes. All these dangers are caused by human intervention in natural processes, and it is only through change attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy, then, is humanity itself.
