Keep in mind the leftist MEDIA will be grabbing the few seconds they want to reveal to the dumb sheeple out of the visit. The majority of military troops across the board are conservative.

I mean, his "surprise" visit wasn't contrived or anything. He was just sitting on the plane and said, "Take a left at Albuquerque."

Very good point. I witnessed dignitaries from all levels of government come to visit us in Baghdad. On some occasions, the masses were allowed (that is if you weren't out performing your task), and other times all you heard was a raucous clap from a tent nearby. I never did figure out how all of that was determined, but you are correct in your assessment that there are times when the crowd is not random.

Just like numbers to a statistician, isn't it reasonable to believe that you can find any number of people to support or defend any given viewpoint? Isn't it reasonable to believe that there are Generals out there that support President Bush's idea of managing a war?

I would venture to guess that ALL Obama visits are setup up as media events. And yes the people attending are hand picked. Example;

...and I do know that when you're in the military, and you're told to be somewhere...you do it. So don't give me that horsesh*t.
For the record, I'm the daughter of a US Marine, and sister of USAF in Protocol at the Pentagon. I'm the sister-in-law and cousin of two family members serving right now in Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm the niece of a retired Lt. Commander in the US Navy. I have a little knowledge on photo ops within the military. This ain't Bob Hope.
Great and my brothers cousins uncle's mother is an astronaut so that makes me a spcialist in space cadets like you who A$$ume they know the innerr workings of a military unit because they "know" people who have served. Maybe in the marine corp they can make you go see the President but in the Air Force it was ALWAYS optional.

I don't disagree that it was optional in your experience. In Baghdad, it was optional only if you were extended the invitation. The big question is, who decided who got an invitation? I can tell you from experience that not everyone was given the opportunity to go see any given dignitary. That leads me to believe that hand-picked crowds are more prevalent than you seem to want to acknowledge. Your experience is different, but that doesn't mean absolute policy.
When the "masses" were welcome, it truly was an optional event.
