"THEM" equals our Brave Men and Woman of our Armed Forces.

Regardless of your stance, feelings about the on going War in the Middle East - when you encounter a member of our military - in uniform or not - go up to them, put your hand out to shake their hand and simply say Thank You - Thank you for your Service.

Please believe me when I say - you will make their day much brighter (GUARANTEED! ) - and it will make your day brighter as well.

Thanks

Greatday

I agree.

I was in Charlotte airport a few months ago and a group of 10-15 servicemen and servicewomen had just gotten off their flight and were walking towards the baggage claim to a resounding applause. I hope it made them feel half as good as it made me feel proud of their service. Judging by the smiles on their faces, I'm sure it did.

Even in peace time I thank them. Gratitude isn't something anyone should be stingy about. Hats off sir.

Some have performed heroically. Some have not. As one who has known, worked, and dealt with at least hundreds of military personnel from various branches over the years, I would say that as a group, they are not so much unlike other groups. Some are wonderful people whom you'd be happy to offer a tip of the hat to on any day of the week. Others are corner-cutting sleazebags and scammers whom you'd really rather have nothing to do with at all, and there are various gradations that fall in between those two extremes. I would say as well that there is some tendency to get carried away with this gratitude thing. If Thank you for your service becomes some mere rote response to any sort of military experience at all, it can tend to lose rather a lot of the meaning that it would ideally convey. Something to think about perhaps...

You are right that they have some that are less honorable than others just like any group. Do you feel the same need to qualify your appreciation for other professions?

Yes...there are even bad apple economists, for instance, but the larger point was to recommend adopting just a little perspective on the matter...
