who said anything about 'torturing'?

liberals screamed that we dare not retaliate against terrorists, for fear of creating more.

so why are pirates different

Yeah, I'm sure that's it. They just haven't "come across" an American ship in the last 200 years. Uh-huh, that's likely.

Liberals have never said we dare not retaliate against terrorists. If you ask any but the most die-hard non-violent liberal on CD or in any other forum whether we should have found Osama Bin Ladin and killed him after 911, s/he's going to say "yes." What liberals object to is attacking another country, i.e., Iraq, which did not present a terrorist threat, in the name of combatting terrorism. Not only did Iraq not present a threat to us, but de-stabilizing the country has allowed terrorist networks to strengthen. And in the meantime, OBL has been sipping tea in a cave for the past eight years and laughing his a$$ off.

In other words, liberals are opposed to encouraging terrorism through ignorant foreign policy.

How I wish we still had W or Reagan.
See what happens when you "make nice" with your enemies.

Ignorant foreign policy? Why it had been the foreign policy of the US since 1801 that pirates don't attack American flagged ships. All of a sudden it happens and you folks start whining about Iraq. This must be dealt with and pirates making threats seem to me to be nothing but terrorists who want to achieve something with threats. We can't just sit back and take that crap.

Have you seen a map that tells us why merchants don't want to go the safest way to the west? Look at a map someday and then maybe you will understand why international waters on the east side of Africa are preferred.

Terrorists will always vow to retaliate just as this group did but if we back down now they won't stop with the promises. They will just get worse.

Old Tank comes up with some real jewels for ideas, huh? Of course, there aren't many American flagged merchant ships around. I thought that had been an important part of our economy forever and it sure was when Jefferson cut down on the Dey of Tripoli. Just hadn't come upon one?

The illegal fishing and dumping of toxic waste in Somalian waters by western industrialized countries has helped give rise to the pirates.

There is no talking with these 'pirates'. The hand wringers that are yowling about diplomacy with these creeps are seriously deluded. Come on! These people don't think like Americans. They don't understand 'making nice'. Yea, I can see it now, we send them aid, food, medicine, tools and machinery, even help them build infrastructure I guess? Yep, we need to offer them a better quality of life and they will settle down. LMAO more like the warlords would hijack all the supplies for their personal use and gain, and the engineers or whatever that are sent to help them build would be killed or held for ransom. We just need to protect our shipping with exteme predjudice, and let them keep their filthy cespool of a country as is, thats the way they want it anyway.
