OH MY GOD!!! How awful! Imagine that, people helping others, who woulda thunk it?
This isn't about helping people. It's about FORCING people to do things AGAINST THEIR WILL. It's not a hard concept to understand (if you're honest).

Well, I don't know - a Chinese Communist scientist told me one day at the lab that when she grew up under Mao, all the school children were required to go out to the hallway, and crap and pee into their individual bowls at 8 AM every morning.

To this day, she and her husband have to "go real bad" at 8 AM every morning.

She said the whole country shat at 8 AM every morning without fail.

And, she almost decked me when I made a joke about Mao's Little Red Book.

So, there ARE lifelong benefits to having some force-elements in Public Education.

Each child should make a contribution to "society".

You did read the list, correct? I see no "forcing" going on, unless you consider rallying people to help others out as "forcing". I guess bake sales & car washes in high schools to raise funds could be considered "forcing" as well.

Anyone who knows anything about government, especially ours, should know that objectionable items that are pulled from one bill are very often placed into other bills at a later date. This bill was never meant to pass in it's entirety now, but rest assured now that most of it has been green lighted the rest will be added in short order.

Notice where it says ALL INDIVIDUALS IN THE UNITED STATES.

This was a trial balloon people. This stripped language will be reintroduced elsewhere. Bet on it.
First of all, that lanquage is not in the bill that was passed and which is now law, so it's not going to be "added" - it's done the way it is.

Secondly, care to offer up some proof that the language you posted was EVER in the bill? - and I don't mean some individuals' right-wing blog (such a post wouldn't prove anything - how would we know such an individual didn't just make up the language you mention), I mean something either official or from a recognized mainstream source.

Too bad your argument doesn't hold water as there is NO FORCING in the bill.

That doesn't sound much like "volunteerism" does it?

The OP has a great deal more credibility than you ever will, so I would not talk about credibility if I were you.

Actually, you quoted me, not arctichomesteader. Are you seriously trying to say that mitigating disputes between children on a playground is worth $6 billion taxpayer dollars? I know liberal freaks are morons, but are they truly THAT stupid?

This could never happen in China.
