The beds of pickup trucks have always seemed like wasted space to me unless you need to transport a lot of big things that don't need to be protected from the elements.
yeah, it is wasted the vast majority of the time ['97 ford ranger owner here] - just as the back seats and trunk of most cars goes unused most of the time. but for the occasions when it is needed, there's no good substitute.

mine used to get lots of use hauling firewood, and hopefully will again soon.

btw, i would've never figured you for an H3 owner; way to shatter the stereotypes!

I keep my 1995 Ford F150 to drive back and forth to work because A) it's paid for, B) it doesn't have but 135,000 miles on it, so it's just broken in, C) it gets @17 mpg but I don't drive but about 90 miles a week to and from work, and usually less than 100 miles per month over and above that.

It is handy if I want to move something large, but doesn;t get used often. When it wwears out, I will replace it with a small car, probably a Toyota, but it is not economically feasible to replace it at this point.

A Chevy Equinox, for the AWD because of the snow we get, and I needed the cargo room. I should have researched it more, after I bought it I was surprised to find out the engine was made in China and the assembly was all done in Canada. <sigh>

I currently drive an 08 kia spectra5 wagon (gotta have room for the doggies!)
I also have a '23 ford truck, a 'rat rod' if you will that will be finished this summer
53 Chevy truck

All antiques, over 25 yoa. '73 Volvo 1800ES, picked it up in OK in 4/90. Great car, lots of fun to drive, a real eye-catcher.

'81 Chevy step-side, short bed pickup. Mileage sucks, bad, but, BUT when I need to haul "stuff", I can. And I do.

'82 Volvo 240 DL. Bought it maybe 3 years ago, 2nd owner. 280K+ miles, still get around 25 mpg.

What else you wanna know?

With a resale value that sinks to Australia. My friend owns one and hates all the hard plastics on the interior.
