Like many others, Colin Powell sees the Great Republican Dilemma as being one of too little moderation combined with too much venom. Trying to speak from under the bus was difficult, but Powell managed an interview and made
several salient points.

Who cares? He sold the UN the Iraq War and he knew better.

I am not a fan of some of the Republican figureheads, but Powell has lost all credibility. Who knows if he would sell us another war if he was placed in another similar situation.

And Rush responds with an excellent idea.

CNN Political Ticker: All politics, all the time Blog Archive - Limbaugh to Powell: ‘Become a Democrat’ « - Blogs from CNN.com

Quote:
"What Colin Powell needs to do is close the loop and become a Democrat instead of claiming to be a Republican interested in reforming the Republican Party," Limbaugh said on his radio show Wednesday.

Limbaugh also took aim at Powell's decision to endorse President Obama over John McCain during the presidential election, repeating his earlier sentiment that Powell's move was "solely based on race."
Rush is right - the ONLY reason he voted for obama was because of race.

Rush is stating his (probably drug addled) OPINION. What is your excuse for echoing the babblings of Rush?

With any luck Rush, Hannity and the rest of you will run ALL MODERATES out of the R party. Then you can sit in your little (all white boys') clubhouse and talk about how hot S. Palin in, how put upon you all are and how the country has gone to he** in a handcart and "there was nothing we could do about it".

Addictions come in many forms, and no one ever needs advice on changing anything until they hit bottom. The GOP is no exception.

How many election cycles until the bottom is recognized?

It's been two already.

To even make such an assumption shows who really has the obsession with race. el rushbo himself has always been a closet racist on his show, and he knows it makes him money cause theres always lots of those out there with radios who will listen

I think we are where the Democrats were in 2004. We lost, we were corrupt.

Now the Democrats have all the corruption, aren't living to their promises.

Our party failed us, but we will see in 2010, the GOP will make significant gains. We are starting to organize (and doing a quite good job), and new leaders are emerging, they are moderates like John McCain and Jeb Bush, as well as true Conservatives like Sarah Palin and Eric Cantor.

I think that these upcoming years will be very good. It won't be as good as 1994, but I think that we should bring the Democrats down to ~55 in the Senate and ~240 in the House.

We have seen times like these (1976-1978 anyone?) where the GOP was called dead, we found a leader, and we became relevant again.

The Dems seemed as good as dead in 2002-2004, but that obviously isn't the case.

The GOP isn't dead, Conservatism isn't dead.

Alot of people say that youth are voting more and more for Democrats, so what? Around 30 people wisen up and figure out that they might not what Communism so much. Look at the 1965-1975 when youth were in force for the Democrat Party, there was supposed to be a permanent Democrat majority because of them, and there isn't now.

What more can proof can you give? Did we lose? Heck yes! Have with lost the Conservative future? Heck NO!

Last I checked, the 2008 election featured a moderate (somewhat liberal) Republican presidential nominee and a conservative VP nominee and the got stomped and it wasn't because of the VP nominee as Biden is proof.
