No, and neither did Jefferson Davis. Slavery was on route to being abolished in the CSA. I would say without the War, it would have been gone by 1875, and there would have been no CRA in the 60's because there would have been equality in the early 1900's.
Race relations are far better in the South than the North. In the South people don't view race as a big deal.
So, what's the point of the question? I absolutely do not agree with slavery, segregation or racism at all.
Are you kidding me? Thats why the KKK is based out of Alabama and Arkansas.Go to a place in Alabama,Tenn,Kentucky,and ask them what they think of the jewish population.Northern states and especially north eastern ones have better relations based on race,religion,and sexual persuasion.
I don't fault you for buying the book because a large majority of people when they see a car wreck, have to look. So when you hear about serial killers or crazy leaders like Hitler,Mussolini,etc... it can be fascinating.I despise Charles Manson but when there are tv specials about it I usually watch. Stating the south was right....that's a different story!
About 4 years ago the KKK announced that it was going to March or hold a demonstration in Lake Grove,NY at the Smithhaven Mall.When all the locals heard about this(white and black) they sent a message to them.NYers are not southerners.We too believe in freedom of speech but hateful speech is different and the fact that they weren't going to be walking out on their own 2 feet was enough of a deterrent for them NEVER to rear their ugly heads again in Suffolk County.Needless to say they never attempted their march and have disappeared since.
BUT the difference is that Hawaii which joined Friday, August 21, 1959 and Alaska which joined Saturday, January 3, 1959 never petitioned to secede
from the Union.
