Couple's 'buy black' experiment becomes a movement
In Los Angeles, there are many racial and ethnic groups that only patronize the businesses without their own (ethnic community) - they keep the $$$ within their own community to make it stronger. I do not necessarily agree but that is their choice as a community.

Many of the businesses in KoreaTown have signs ONLY in Korean(meaning they really only want Korean patrons) There are Korean only shopping centers and malls to cater solely to the Korean community.

The same with businesses and companies that ONLY advertise in Spansh, Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic, etc.

Why are these other groups never a target? Why do some person persist in their "Blacks hate America" tirades of ignorance? What difference does it make to you personally that an African American couples makes a decision to financially support the businesses that support their community?

I don't consider it racist. I see it as an attempt to support minority owned businesses.

I would be interested to see however, the reaction if some proposed a similar movement: White owned businesses only. Asian owned businesses and so on

I'd lay odds that there would be some backlash

Well then, in a case like that, you'd be in luck; it's not necessary to speculate on what things might be like. And I say that because such a system has actually been in existence. It's called apartheid.

I'm going to try this one last time.

What would be the purpose of a campaign to support white only business?

Would this be because there aren't a sufficient number of white own Fortune 500 Corporations?

Would this be due to a disproportionate economic power the minority community?

Would this alleviate the disproportionate number of white people living in poverty?

Would this help to eliminate the disproportionate number of whites on unemployment?

Would such an effort help to counter the badly needed development and support for entrepreneurship in the white community?

Frankly, I am getting the distinct impression that a minority of white Americans only want African Americans to continue to live under the economic thumb of white America. On one hand this small group of "conservatives" deride the cultural of the victim which looks solely for government largesse for solving their problems, who deride social programs as being opposed to the capitalist spirit, and who demand that minorities find solutions to their own problems, yet when African Americans devise a capitalistic program for self-help and empowerment, the program is derided as being racist!

In the final analysis, I can only conclude that this small minority of white conservative only want black folks to disappear from the face of the planet since nothing black folks do seems unworthy of vilification.

They're giving preferential treatment to people solely based on the color of their skin, and shunning those that don't have the same skin color. How is this irony lost on so many?

The boycott of South Carolina tourism industry by the NAACP wasn't effective. South Carolina's tourism grew by billions during the boycott. Perhaps its because of the boycott that a certain segment of the population DID visit SC. Now there's a thought?

This is just another Off-Broadway version of that. I see failure in the future, but it's their right to spend the money wherever they want. I just don't see it having much effect.

Asians do the same thing as do Latinos...why no outrage about these groups chosing to patronize solely within their own ethnic communities?

No. Discrimination.

discrimination definition | Dictionary.com

Quote:
dis⋅crim⋅i⋅na⋅tion  /dɪˌskrɪməˈneɪʃən/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [di-skrim-uh-ney-shuhn] Show IPA
–noun

1.an act or instance of discriminating.

2.treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit.

Judging from the article, it appears that it is a double-edged sword...

I realize that they are trying to help their people but when you have to deprive yourself of something because there are no black vendors for certain things might be a little over the top.
