Conservative and Black is an oxymoron in the African American community. How could a black man possibly vote against Affirmative Action? Oh the hypocrisy! Get him! He's not one of us!
I can't figure this out. it seems a lot of blacks can't stand him, and label him an uncle tom. anyone know why this is?
The only issue that blacks had with Thomas back (i wouldn't use the word hate) in the 90's was how both he and Anita were going at each other during the confirmation hearings.
Misplaced as it was, the other issue was the Supreme Court went from Thurgood Marshall who was seen as the champion of equal rights, where Thomas was perceived as someone who did not embrace his heritage (again misplaced).
Most were looking for this replacement of a Historical legend (to Blacks) to follow suite. Ideology yes, reality NO. Once the hearings were over, we no longer focused on him and actually he's been VERY quiet as any and all Supreme Court Justices should be.
He benefited from affirmative action but doesn't think it should exist.
Oh yeah that too. How can one benefit from a program, then believe that it should be abolished. Kind of slaps in the face. Thanks for reminding me of that.

Thats not it at all. I know many minorities who believe that we've passed the time for affirmative action. Its the fact that his education and career benefited from it.
