If minorities fail the test regardless of what is in it, it is considered racist. This is where "affirmative action" comes in. On most tests, minorities are automatically given a passing grade. So even if a white person scores 100% on a test, and a minority scores a 60%, the minority will be offered the job because its considered "Fair".

Please show ANY proof where a minority is given an automatic passing scores on civil service, municipal, or privately administered tests.

Did it ever occur to you that the blacks thought they wouldn't need to study as hard because they knew they had the Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons on their side to GIVE them their jobs???

One side gets the breaks and rewarding for doing terrible and the other deserving side gets screwed.
That is how affirmative action works. Reward the lesser of the two.
There are vastly different dialects of written as well as spoken English. At test could be biased in a manner so someone that did not speak a particular dialect would not do as well as someone that understood the specific form. It would be difficult to write but that is why consultants are paid so much. I would not be surprised if the Irish old boys club in the Boston Fire Dept's administration told the consultants exactly what they wanted and that is what the got; A subtly biased test to keep the blacks out of the management class.
What are you suggesting? That the test used key words such as 'wee', 'cake hole' and 'arse'?

I can see how a test can be racially bias for elementary and middle school kids. Maybe even those in high school but just based on the information given on this case I can't see how the SCOTUS could have ruled any other way. Testing for a job for which you are all fire fighters seems to be pretty straight forward to me. Also as a afro-american I get very sick and tired of folks who think Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton speaks for our entire race. That would be like me saying Rush Limbaugh speaks for all whites. Let's use a little common sense people.

Seriously, part of me wishes this actually was the case, maybe then I wouldn't have nearly failed my stats class in college. As someone who is currently studying for a grad school exam and has been in school for the majority of my life, I can say that I have NEVER been in a situation like the one you described above. How about the fact that when one is considered a minority that they get points before any test or anything. This is true. How do I know?? Because I am a supposed minority. He didn't post lies at all.
