Can America Learn Anything From Other Countries or Cultures?
If not, why not?
If so, which countries/cultures, and what?

American culture is a mixture of different cultures from all over the world (but mostly European). Other nations can't learn anything from American culture though. Most of the world including Europe is extremely xenophobic. I would say America is one of the least xenophobic countries in the entire world.

Of course -- we should look to other countries to see how they solved problems that we are currently encountering or might be encountering in the near future. I think every family should endeavor to travel overseas if just for a little bit -- all-inclusive resorts don't count!

Ummm...I think America is an entity created by other Countries and Cultures.

Thus, the answer is not only yes, but also more than 200 years old. When were you going to realize this.

America should learn to mind their own damn business and stop butting their filthy noses into other contries affairs. Sorta like most countries do.

Why should we police world affairs? Why should we feed the hungry around the world when those we are feeding hate our guts and we have our own hungry, needy and homeless right here. KEEP THE MONEY HERE. It's our money.

When you act like a big bully then people will pick on you and hate you. Make that a country. When you act like a big bully and push other countries around they will also hate you.

So we can learn from Switzerland or Canada. They have no enemies because they dont tell people how to run their country and they butt out of everyones business. America has a lot of balls telling anyone how to run their country when our own is in complete shambles.

Of course, flexibility and adaptability is one of the hallmarks of what really makes the US stand apart.

Practicality almost always wins out over tradition.

Well, some of the Middle Eastern countries have interesting ways of dealing with loud, obnoxous feminists.

Canada is a member of NATO and thus a treaty ally of the US. They are presently fighting in Afghanistan. I have also noticed that they love telling countries, particularly the USA, how to run things.

Not only CAN America learn from others...that's basically all America IS....an amalgam of various foreign cultures, modified and adapted to life here in North America.

My concern today is a huge mistrust of 'multiculturalism'. Traditionally, over the years, we Americans have had the ability (and the common sense) to adopt what is GOOD in other cultures, while rejecting those things that are BAD. Today, there's a huge push to adopt the entire 'package' of other cultures, based on the assumption that "ALL cultures are equally good; therefore, no part of them can be 'wrong' "....This is a dangerous assumption, in my opinion. Hopefully, sometime soon, we'll be able to regain our common sense, and to adopt all the interesting 'good' parts of cultures from around the world, while having the foresight to realize that SOME of what 'goes on over there', we do NOT want 'going on over here'....
