You work for a company that employees 300 in the same office building 30 are very famous for their field of work...
Do you know all of the famous ones that work floors above and below you?
You don't...Weird....
We are talking about Harvard though, and he is on tv all the time. The guy is a quasi celebrity. Outside of Cornell West he might be the most famous Black intellectual in the country. So yeah weird. But in a way it doesn't surprise me, most people usually only watch tv for sports or porn these days.
I don't care what color the homeowner or the police are, I have a big problem with a police officer demanding that I show ID. I believe that it is not necessary to 'carry your papers' in the US. In NAzi Germany, yes.

That still DOES NOT mean that a person would know everyone...I see a lot of people on Television, but that doesn't mean I would know them walking down the sidewalk.
Just because you are the EXPERT, maybe the person that saw what was going wasn't. But it's nice to know you can get into someones mind a tell them what and whom they should know.

Then you had better check the laws where you live or it might be you in handcuffs one day. The officer was with the law when he asked for an ID...
It shouldn't have mattered who he was. You shouldn't have to have standing in a community to be treated with respect. Once ID was presented IN HIS OWN HOME, game over.
And anyone should be able to ask for law enforcement's name and badge number at any time. The cop was a bully and I hope that he pays and other bully cops learn from it.

I just thought it was interesting, none of the cops or the witness knew the guy. He's fairly famous.

So if a neighbor calls the police because she sees two men breaking into your home, when the police arrive, they should not ask the men for identification? They should just believe it if the men say they live there, and then leave?
Please.
