What's the harm, what's the foul?
As usual, it's all in your head.
No, actually was in their heads after limbaugh sucked out their brains and spilled it in. Now it is officially regurgitated.

How unfortunate that the concept of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY is lost on so many!
Many people do not think about such things until it's too late, and they do not gather the proper information to make an informed decision. Kudos to you for keeping yours up, but keep in mind that you are the exception, rather than the rule.

The government is not making the decision for you. They are simply saying that you need to be informed (by your chosen medical provider) before it's too late. Please, do not continue to spread disinformation.

Just wondering what "penalties" await the naughty little comrade who does not follow this intimidating "requirement". Simple harassment, a tax penalty, fear of Obamacare being taken away from that elderly person who dares to not "schedule"...what? One wonders. Let us not forget the Big Fed Clinic in the Sky will have ALL your records, not just the Lackey MD at your appointed clinic. It is not yet clear how all of this is going to shake down. Certainly what should be clear to us all is that government meddling into our private lives is gaining a larger and larger influence, and for that we need to be very wary, very skeptical, ever onguard.

The Shill and Hacks et al in the White House are not your buddy, not your friend, they have no care or regard for you. Their sole agenda is to transfer power (your power) unto themselves, and tax the hell out of their serfs. Once the power grab is complete, the multiple and various taxations will know no bounds. We already have the playbook of history past to tell us so, hopefully some of us at least have a grasp and will align with those few in Congress who might make a difference in the next election. God help us if they don't.

This is for everyone, not just people who are sick

So for all of you 65 and over, get ready to be counseled on your "options" and have Uncle Sam make recommendations.

I talked to my doctor 25 years ago on the topic and got recommendations from her, for documenting my wishes.
(and they are updated, yearly)

No big deal, if your a planner. You will at some point have to make a choice.

Moderator cut: don't be rude, pleaseThe information found would be just as valid as her amazing findings on this topic.

Mail them a packet of information. Do some PSAs on TV and radio.

Why should a senior citizen be pushed into a personal one-on-one conversation that they may not wish to have?

Which is someplace I don't want my doctor to be unless I invite him. Certainly not by government fiat!

They are making the decision for me about the conversation/consultation taking place. No disinformation there, just the truth.

Yet another hidden tax. I'll have to pay a copay for a doctor visit the government has mandated? No thanks!

By the way, I know a whole bunch of similar exceptions.

So what? What exactly are you complaining about?

I would imagine that if we have a national health plan that the people who are covered by it will need to be educated and informed about health/life/death issues in order to keep things on the up and up.

Since we are still unclear about exactly what form or shape any healthcare overhaul or new plan will take it's kind of hard to say for sure who would be affected. I have no problem with my health insurance company offering a service like this as even now they send me questionares and offer various types of health counseling services.

I think it's the word "mandatory" that freaks people out and creates visions of being hauled off in the middle of the night to a death camp if they dare to skip a meeting. (yeah..it's sarcasm)

Plus, of course, everything is just academic at this point anyway.

Most of the supporters of the health care reform being slammed through by Pelosi and others do not even know what is in this nightmare. So we get herded like sheep according to our afflictions or our age? What compasion, makes me tear up.

I just spent two days at the ER and then the county Burn Ward with my son who set fire to himself. I watched an overcrowded, overburdened bunch of young doctors trying to take care of too many people. Most of the people down at the county facility don't have any insurance and some did appear to be here either with green cards or illegally, but I will not make that assumption based on the inability to speak English alone. The issue is that anyone can and will be treated thanks to the tax payers already. Why we want to screw up this system even more is beyond me. Reducing the salaries of the medical staff and including the treatment of every person creeping into this country will not work. We will have a system of rationing and I suspect most of us will be on the bottom of the list...each according to their need or perhaps worth.
