US 'Clunkers' Program Said to Be Out of Money
July 30 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. government’s $1 billion “cash for clunkers” program to spur new car sales “has been suspended” because it’s running out of money six days after it began, Senator Debbie Stabenow said.
Your article has everyone "declining to comment".
The OP's article has this:
"But dealers raised concerns about large backlogs in the processing of the deals in the government system, prompting the suspension."
They don't know how many cars got sold to qualify..backlog of paperwork !!!
Wasn't this only going to be available only until the money ran out anyway? What's the problem? It looks like it did exactly what they wanted it to do.
Read the OP's article. They don't know how many cars got sold under the program. They may have sold too many but there is too much in the backlog that is not yet processed.

Stuck in government red tape.
Yes. The article stated that they don't know if they have already exceeded the $1Billion earmarked for this or not. If not it should continue. But if they did, it's over right? No harm no foul?

People who work hard and have been successful do not have or own clunkers!
You're joking right?
