Americans are not stupid, they are ignorant. If Americans had the facts available to them and actually sought out the facts and asked the right questions, their true genius would become evident.

Participation in left/right conservative/liberal Dem/Rep arguments accomplishes nothing but further division and disempowerment. These polarities are DESIGNED to divide you. With your attention placed on meaningless arguments that will never be won, you miss the point: you are being used.

Stop, take a deep breath, unlearn everything drilled into you, and then examine everything as if it was the first time you have encountered it. Smart men and women will realize the deliberate deception around them and ignore it, opting instead for the real problems and then devising real solutions.

When enough Americans (and those in other countries) wake from their induced slumber, the solutions will pour forth like water from a spigot.

Until then, we will mire in vicious circles of pointless arguments, blaming each other 'til the cows come home.

Yes, America has long since abandoned any semblance of democracy. It is run by drugged soulless fascists of many political stripes and persuasions. When Americans finally reach the boiling point and realize their country is not worth sustaining, it will be very sad. The version of America designed and positioned to replace the current version is already finalized and awaiting implementation... unless we awaken to the intention of this forced change and ignore it out of conscious choice. The future hasn't happened until you consciously decide what it is. Do you want someone else to make that decision for you (the 'stupid' Americans) or would you rather take charge of it yourself (the enlightened Americans)? The fascists are planning on your continued ignorance, which is why they are so successful.

Let's prove them wrong.

You're right, the president and his cronies and rich big business love having the country flooded because then they keep salaries down and make more money.
Right on again MOMARK!!

I don't think Americans are dumb. But many if they hear something over and over again believe it without really looking into the facts themselves. For example, look at the illegal immigrants only take jobs Americans won't do argument. It has been said over and over to the point where many actually believe it.

As far as corporations go. They are only legally obligated to their shareholders, and that obligation is to turn as high of a profit as possible. If they can they'll hire an illegal alien because it keeps their overall labor expenses down, which allows the corporation to turn a higher profit, and pay more money to the US treasury. If possible they will replace a full-time worker benefited worker and hire two or three part-time workers and pay them much less.

The corporations first step is to hire illegals. The second step is outsourcing jobs to a third word country like India or Pakistan. The third step is to more the entire multibillion dollar organization overseas where they don't have to worry about pesky things like overtime or child labor laws.

Mhouse- I would love to. The problem is how do we get the power? I voted in 2004- It took 6 hours in Palm Beach County- I voted and tried to effect change; Many people couldnt even make it to the polls-

The system seems impossible to change. I wish things seemed hopeful. Every time I watch the news and hear more Bush spin I feel physically ill. It is sad what is happening to this country.

I think that once we have enough people who realize the current state of affairs, those running this country will ramp up their efforts at deception in a last ditch effort to remain in control. This will be the most difficult period in our history because power doesn't fall without chaos. What must be the driving force for change is the constant unwavering belief that we can succeed by sheer will and to focus our energies on creating another version of ourselves and our country, indeed our world, for that much is at stake.

No amount of historical study will provide the way out. The only successful change will be one that is completely unlike anything done before. This is the evolutionary leap we must make in order to survive: to create a new paradigm for human existence.

We literally have a chance to start over, to let what we consider to be the 'human condition' to be redefined. Can we handle the challenge and the responsibility? What do we want in our lives? How do we want to live on this planet, in this country, in our bodies? Think BIG and don't forget a single detail.

Ddi you see the news this evening- how they are re-hashing Al-Qaeda stories from 3 years ago. Then they showed Cheney and his new grandbaby. I feel sick even writing this. I truly question how some politicians sleep at night.

Lightbulb Americans are not dumb

It may be semantics but the United States is not a democracy, we are a Republic governed by laws, not majority view. If you doubt that look at the raw numbers in the 2000 presidential election. We do have a demcratic form of government. The ancient Greek States were probably the only true democracies in history.

As for the corporate bashing, the US economic system is a market driven ( supply and demand) profit based system. The whole economy is based on profit. When Amason stock sells at a high of $150 a share, it is bought because the buyer thinks it can be sold higher later, profit oriented. Which brings me to the immigration issue. The answer is not stopping the illegals, it is taking the profit out of hiring them. That means real, and large monetary penalties for the companies that hire them. And jailtime for the CEOs and Boards that run them. Without jobs there is no incentive to be here illegally. Help in creating a sustained esconomy in Mexico would also go a long way.

For those of you that decry the political parties, how many of you have been to a local caucus? state or national convention? The way to change is from within. Remember the pro wrestler who bacame Governor by running as an independant? That changed party politics in MN. Enough of my humble view for now.
