If one can save money by cutting fraud and abuse in Medicare, why does it have to wait? Why not do it now? Why has it not been done already if there are such savings to be had?
Sounds as believable as 'the check is in the mail'.

Sebelius said the Obama administration is determined to crack down on Medicare fraud through new teams of investigators detecting patterns of false billing. Forty of the suspects have already been arrested and the rest are being sought, authorities said.
"The Obama administration is committed to turning up the heat on Medicare fraud," said Sebelius.

New Task Force Will Focus on Costly Waste and Abuse
Senior Obama administration officials launched a high-level task force yesterday to use technology to help detect and prevent health-care fraud, which robs the nation's coffers of billions of dollars each year.
Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius also directed federal investigators and prosecutors to expand special strike forces to Detroit and Houston, where "erratic" billing data suggest high levels of fraud, waste and abuse in Medicare and Medicaid programs.
Together, the actions signal the Obama administration's biggest push yet to halt fraudulent claims in programs that expend hundreds of billions of dollars a year for health care for the poor, elderly and disabled.
See I totally disagree with your interpretation of the speech.
I heard him say over and over and over again about the republican ideas he wanted to use and how they (both sides) had to work together. "I still believe we can" etc etc. At first it upset me...'What? work with those gun freaks and birthers?"
But after hearing him speak, I slowly began to think, "Hey, maybe if they work together I may actually be able to afford health insurance for once in my adult life. And God knows this bipartisan B.S. does get tiring."
He even said he was going to do something BUSH suggested for crying out loud!

The guy totally nailed it and made absolute fools out of the GOP at the same time.
So what did he nail? How is he paying for it? Where is he going to get all the doctors to care for these millions more? Where is the money coming from to pay for it? Where is it written people will not lose their health care to this new insurance association he says he wil form? How is he going to clean up the fraud when he puts frauds in his administration? And the biggest question, where is the final bill that he is getting all these facts from? Democrats have already voiced their repulsion to reading bills.
Didn't you left wingers learn from his campain that hussein obama will say anything to suck you in? You know he is lying when he starts reverting to his preacher voice.

I agree, I was happy to hear him acknowledge defensive medicine is real. But that was not enough.
I was actually angered by that respose because it sounded like threw that in his speech in a very superficial way to appease the other side but didn't discuss tort reform or any real measure to address it. Notice, he didn't even use the words Tort Reform nor did he specifically mention any reform regarding specific attorney related issues like capping damages etc. He gave a very evasive response and didn't convince me he was going to do anything serious about it. It's been 2 months since these issues have been discussed and Obama acts like defensive medicine is a new concept. Seriously, if he was serious about dealing with Defensive Medicine, he would have mentioned something specific .

Exactly...what did Obama "nail." He basically made a lot of unsubstantiated claims that sounded nice but provided no specific details as to how it will be achieved.
His speech changed my mind. It distanced me from him more than before. I was enthusiastic about tonight and thought he would mention specifics on how he would achieve the things he claimed about his health care reform. I thought he was even more of a politician tonight than in the past. I spoke to a lot of Independents today and they were quite disappointed with Obama and felt he was evasive
