are you saying the whole crowd was not there at 2pm?
and in this larger image, you can see that the sides of the mall are very sparsely filled past 4th street, not really any more crowded than they usually would be on a saturday. it gets crowded back by the washington monument, but that's another event.
Excellent photo. That's it, right there, everyone. The telephoto lens foreshortens the distance to the Black Family Reunion event tents near the Monument, but the photo accurately captures the extent of the 912 rally.
Off to the right of the photo, crowds were not gathered among the trees of the lawn, most likely because the view to the speakers would be obstructed. I attached a photo earlier showing the empty spaces on the northwest Capitol lawn - taken at approximately 1:15pm

The Left can downplay the numbers for this Tea Party. But there will 3x times the number at the next one. They are actually helping to motivate people standing on the sidelines to come forward and be counted. (I hope the Left keep calling us childrish names as well.)
This is great. GOD BLESS AMERICA
We are coming back!!
Come back to Washington. Bring your money. We love tourism.
it's an unofficial estimate, but it's from a fire department spokesperson. sanrene has mentioned another estimate from the fire department that differs only slightly.
The reports on the ground of "hundreds of thousands", the pics, the video, the schematic all support the estimate of hundreds of thousands.
