Medicare fraud and abuse is not a new issue. The OIG has been fighting Medicare fraud and abuse for years.

LOL..nt details at all except "cut waste". I would like to see any proposal greater than one generic all encompassing sentence.

Maybe Queen Nancy means that Medicare will no longer pay for motorized wheelchairs and scooters or diabetic shoes.

That is just the number that Our Glorious Leader has continually used. I don't think he has any idea what he is going to take but if enough of us die off from lack of care then he won't have to cut so much.

It would be very nice if he would list some of the waste that is going on.

Now it's full of waste and redundancy.

I just can't fathom how they can stand up there and say things like this with a straight face.

That's what the Botox is for.

Believe it or not, there really is excessive waste in the delivery of private insurance health care. It is a known fact that companies spend anywhere from 18-30% of revenues on admin & marketing costs. I worked at medicare advantage cos as a salesman for many years and saw many overpaid managers who did little to enhance sales or patient care. there are still such wasteful expenses in insurance cos today. It is also widely known that MA plans on the average receive 14% more funding than it would cost to cover a similar pt on traditional medicare. only in 2010 will funding be decreased so that the HMOS will start to "sink or swim" thru their own management. A local Medicare Advantage plan here in SA is able to manipulate medicare funding through RAPS data. It is able to bilk the gov't for extra $$ when a chronically ill pt presents himself, instead of assuming the "risk" as HMOs were originally meant to do when they were created. It is the equiv of a CEO getting bonused when the co loses $$.
