The consitution doesn't guarantee you freedom from religion but rather freedom of religion. "God" is generic.

Either way though, not to derail the conversation, stop with relativism, its a useless argument from people that can't contribute to the debate at hand and would rather try to apply some illogical comparison to justify an agenda.
God is NOT generic when you don't believe in one.

Internet pressure? When did jobs require positive internet popularity?

So far no one has clearly explained or provided any reasons why the teacher should be fired. There is no criminal act apparent so the teacher could only be fired if she violated school policy/regulations. If the school has no such policies or requirements that states songs about various politicians including the President are not permitted, then the school has no basis for terminating employment.

Yes, this "internet pressure" will magically fire someone that is unable to be fired, considering they've retired.

Lets' be honest here. It really is a pathetic attempt to stir up a frenzy over nothing. Over the past years the right wing has become caricature of a legit political party. I don't treat politics as a football game. I judge a representative on their stance on the policies, not the letter they wear on their jersey. There are changes that need to be inacted on both sides of the aisle and we desperately need more than a two party system and campaign finance reform, but the Republican Party has rendered itself a dinosaur and totally incapable of doing anything that is for anyone but themselves and the special interests.

Public schools teach kids Christmas carols, at least they did when I was in school and my parents did not get bent out of shape and we are not Christian. This hoopla about these kids celebrating Black History Month and their pride in having the first black President of The United States is offensive to you, then you are coming from a perspective that many others would rightly find absurd.

I don't believe there would have been any reaction if children were taught a song of praise for President Bush or President Regan. I am sure that they were taught that our President is the leader of the free world and to respect him. I see absolutely nothing wrong or unusual about this classroom activity.

"Respect" and "Patriotism" seem to have fallen into disfavor with those who are always hoping our President will fail and who role model disrespect for our country and its values.

this did not have a damn thing to do with patriotism
and you know it, otherwise they would be singing about our country
not a man
or our soliders that are laying down their lives for us for our freedom
but boy, oh boy, we can not have that because that would be seen as promoting a war

Maybe they'll bring the teacher back for a day and then fire her...

Maybe. But does that qualify as justification for terminating one's employment (this teacher's or any other's)?

No.
