The Obama's made a great effort to get the 2016 Olympics in Chicago. The committee decided to go with a city in South America (Rio) which has never hosted before. How is this Obama's fault or a waste of taxpayer money?

Had Chicago won the bid....the Anti-Obama crowd would claim dirty politics and strong-arming tactics.

I'd like to know what percentage of Americans actually care anything about the Olympics, I'm guessing the percentage isn't very high.

I guess many of the members of the International Olympic Committee have at least flown through Chicago. Obama has to be dense as a stump, or as stubborn, to think Chicago would pull a significant number of votes.

Guess all that desperation displayed by the Obamas must have turned the committee off.....

Excellent!

It's about time! The first Olympics for South America and Brazil couldn't be more deserving. This is one time I was rooting against Obama.

I'm glad Rio got it. It's about time the olympics made their way to South America.

Good for Rio.

FWIW: The Brazilian economy is fairly strong, the nation seems to be run in a decent manner, and they are moving towards getting off of oil.
