1) Richard Nixon

2) The easy acceptance of Reagan's convenient amnesia

3) The hypocrisy of claiming to be fiscally conservative while spending like drunken sailors

4) The hypocrisy of being fine with spending billion$ while doing everything for other countries while screaming SOCIALISM! if doing anything for Americans is proposed

5) The alleged 'family values' BS

The actual quote is "To be a conservative at 20 is heartless, and to be a liberal at 60 is plain idiocy".

Sir Winston Churchill.

Guess he wouldn't deserve tenure...

Well, see if you can pick out the Republicans in this clip.

Churchill himself of course was a conservative at 20 and a liberal by 40. And while it's often attributed to him, he did not originate the saying. It was first used in readily recognizable form by a French writer in castigating certain generations of Parisians for failing to get out into the streets and shed some blood during the Revolution of 1848.

I'll bite.

1. The Republicans' family values BS offends me as a christian. It's clear that they don't give a damn about the unborn or the born. Same goes for marriage. They're so for the "sanctity of marriage" when they're rife with sex scandals themselves. Hypocrisy.

2. The war stuff that has bankrupted the country and wasn't even necessary (in Iraq, anyway)

3. The fact that they're proudly ignorant and scorn people who devote themselves to learning and academics. I'll never forget when Sean Hannity said that the (ivy league) Obamas never accomplished a thing in their lives. I guess getting an education is worthless only if you're a neocon.

4. The fact that they claim to be on thie side of the little guy when, again they support policies that work against them.

I don't hate, but I don't trust either, and while it depends on the Republican, it will be years before I vote for them at the national level again.

I dislike it because it has moved away from the conservative values platform regarding economics (big busines bailouts for example)

I also dislike it because there are some hypocrites. I love the family values, but it only rings true if the politicians running on this are also following it (people like Sanford cheating on wife is a great example)

Those are really the only problems I have with them

I think it depends on whether you are talking about that particular moment, the 80's, the 90's or now. From the clip...I can't tell.

if they are really like this, this is the party!

I really don't intend that to be mean, but he had some really radical views and one would have had to do some extensive reading to understand him. For example, he actually voted to keep Nelson Mandella in prison when he was in Congress.

That's just unforgivable to me and representative of why I can't support the Republican Party, even though I share many of its values. From supporting gang rape to supporting apartheid, it's a party whose values I just don't understand.
actually I dont know alot about his views! I actually asked someone on here who told me quite abit, however I do like his calm , smart, quiet manner. SO I like him as a person but not in the goverment. You see, I can admit Im an idiot!!

ok I have read some really good points and I agree with the bail outs, war and some other points.

You know what I just figured out, there are so many smart, level headed and honest answers here! I would like to tell you that I said it before, its that I watch this FOX news and worry! Now the funny things is why? I am going to tell you that when I try to go back and forth to views alot of the views are completely opposite. This kinda blows my mind because both make pretty good points.

Well thanks I never expect to get all these responses, however I am sure of one thing, YOU would all tell me TURN OFF FOX! I guess your right! It makes me feel like the commies are coming , the whole country is a disaster, Obama is the devil and all my wealth will be given to homeless, and I will be dead if I get cancer. In otherwords this news has kinda made me very I dont know the word. I guess its sensationalism. Its really over the top!

Thanks all!
