You should read more in the way of retractions of articles. On further review, there are NO CONFIRMABLE CASES of any shots at all being fired at relief units. The helicopter passenger whose original comments started all this BS later admitted that he saw in the darkness what he took at the time to be gunfire and that he had no knowledge of what the actual target might have been and had only assumed that it was directed at the helicopter. A Coast Guard press officer had also indicated that helicopters were taking fire every time they landed at a particualr hospital. Knight-Ridder newspapers later interviewed the Coast Guard pilots who had been in the air on the night in question. None could recall any incident of taking fire of any sort. The reports you recall were examples of media hysteria, dozens of which occurred over the course of that week.

I saw your information, and all of it is wrong. The Governor does NOT need a request from the Mayor to declare a statewide state of emergency. Blanco did that on her own authority on Friday. The Governor does need to ask the President to declare a federal state of emergency. She did that and Bush then issued the declaration on Saturday.

False again. The words that are distorted into this deception are This is obviously a cause for concern... but it is not a cause for alarm from last April, and I don't want anyone to be alarmed, but I do want everyone to be prepared from this past September. This is an example of deliberately taking words out of context in order to create a false impression. Again, something that the right-wing does a lot of. Seemingly because they have no honest complaints to bring.
