I am saddened by this, not only because it was the originator of the 24-hour TV news channel, not only because I think it's the least "partisan" of the major cable news networks (I'll grant the "righties" who will inevitably flame this that it has a "slight left lean", but still nowhere near that of MSNBC, and MSNBC is less "left-biased" (though still plenty biased) than Fox News is "right-biased"), but because even it's own HLN beat it out and in comment to that astonishing fact, the NY Times said:
"Viewers seem to be looking for partisan views more than objective coverage"
I understand that just because you were the first doesn't mean you "rule forever", but I thought this statement pretty much sums up the sad state of things in America today. How can we get past the extreme polarization that is crippling our nation during a very troubled tmie when instead of getting our information through an objective lens, we're all being fed (and accepting to the hilt) an ideological bias? Perhaps I'm being naive, but I think we can do better......
Truthiness wins, people who only want the Murdoch point of view watch Fox
People who want the liberal view watch MSNBC
But apparently the 47% in the middle are just sick of both and don't watch anything
CNN needs some new faces.
Plain news don't sell anymore. People want more from a 'news' channel these days and FOX and MSNBC deliver. They deliver political opinon and bias where FOX is severly tilted to Republicand and MSNBC the other way. When there is real news going on, like a war, or natural disaster, then everyone tunes in to CNN. When the crises is over, they tune back to FOX and MSNBC to hear the twist on how the crises was handeled and who should be blamed.

I agree. They made CNN into the Anderson Cooper show and I was just over it.

I've been in the service for almost 10 years now...before anyone cared about Bush or Obama. Back then, it was almost a requirement to have a TV in every work area. Only channel it could be on was CNN.
There are very few on CNN these days...
And keep in mind...before some of you even think about saying something stupid...the military is a very diverse work area.
CNN has been going downhill, for a variety of other reasons. I used to watch CNN HLN every afternoon during lunch hour. Now, I avoid it for the same reasons I can't handle "ET" (Entertainment Tonight). Even CNN news has more drama than I would like to see for anything news. No good reporters either. Blitzer et al... don't get me started on it.
CNN needs more debate shows like they had in the 90's with Crossfire,The Capital Gang and Evans & Novak. This was when CNN was doing well.
Also I read that CNN is hurting more with primetime ratings. Honestly I think it's time for Larry King to retire. Yes he's a legend but CNN needs to do something different with his time slot. CNN needs more creative programming aimed at young people.

There is only one way to eliminate the continuing factionalization among the people. That is to do away with the ability for our government to write unjust preferential laws.
When our government acts like using the weapon of preferential law against the citizens is a good thing, how do you expect the people to act?
