Was it politically incorrect to accuse the LaCrosse players of rape just because they were white and the lying stripper ho who accused them was black? Nooooo . . . that was PC.
Was it politically incorrect to call GWB a moron, a Nazi, and a terrorist, and express openly a desire for him to be assassinated? Nooooooo . . . that was PC.
Was it politically incorrect to say that the US and Israel deserved to be attacked and Jews deserve to be slaughtered by Muslims? Noooooo . . . that was PC.
PC is about to die a bad death. Honest people are sick of the crap and aren't going to stand for it anymore. I no longer "watch myself" in conversation -- I just tell the truth. Being polite, diplomatic, and respectful are character issues and I have no problem with this, but I'm not going to watch my speech if that means lying about reality.
Being an a-hole hurts people...period. I'm not saying to start just walking up to people and starting stuff with them or be an a-hole for the hell of it. PC is literally enabling behavior at times though, and it ISN'T even good for the people it's intended to be good for. At times, instead of labeling someone something, they just need to hear it like it is. I would assume that people would be smart enough to know the difference, but SOME people have bit off on this PC crap so bad they see, hear and do NOTHING (except make excuses) until it's too late because they are afraid they are going to offend someone or be seen a certain way.
I think some of us are talking 'apples' and some of us are talking 'oranges.' Can you give some examples of the kinds of behavior, specifically, that are enabled by political correctness? What do "people need to hear it like it is?"

Who ever told you those things you mentioned were considered politically correct? Rush has been on this topic a lot lately but, truly, do you honestly think these examples you listed are universally accepted as political correct thought/opinions?

That was neither politically incorrect nor politically correct. It wasn't politically anything, it was a bizarre hoax and was dismissed as such.

According to whom?
There may be a correlation between people who hold those opinions and people who are politically correct, but that doesn't make them "politically correct" opinions. Political correctness, as I have always understood it, has more to do with manners and the phrasing of opinions than the content of opinions.

See above. To be candid, I am one of those who thinks the US and Israel do deserve to be attacked, but sadly the number of people who agree with me is vanishingly small--and it has nothing to do with "political correctness" in any case.

It never does mean that. You can express almost any opinion about "reality" in a polite way.
No not at all, but some friends of mine were talking earlier and we got on the subject of it. We were discussing over how the last 15 years how things have changed regarding being PC.
Some of us were saying that saying stuff sometimes actually can be used as constructive criticism, otoh I can be used to be just plain mean.
Just find friends who agree with you and don't worry about the PC crowd. There will always be people who want to "correct" your thinking. You can't worry about them.
There's a huge difference with what you are saying. You're talking about being mean for the sake of doing so.
So if you walk up to a kid with Down's Syndrome and call him a retard, or a kid in a wheelchair and call him a crip because that's how you really feel, that's OK?
Got it. It's only unacceptable if you're doing it to be mean. If you're doing it because that's how you feel, then it's OK.
