I think he's saying that they don't share the same Southern culture due to the Hispanic influence--at least on Texas's part. As for Florida, we've got too many Northerners and Canadians coming in from the North, and too many Cubans in the South.

Gotta disagree a bit, DK! We agree on most things for sure, but most of West Texas (sans the trans-pecos area) was settled by pioneers from the southeast after the WBTS, and -- other than topography -- is essentially Southern.

It can be found in everything from speech patterns to Confederate monuments on courthouse lawns. And of course, fried foods and black-eyed peas and okra being a staple on cafe menus! LOL

For trivia's sake, a couple of maps showing Southern American English speakers:

^They're what makes Georgia great.

You ever listen to Jeff Foxworthy? He worked in Atlanta before going into comedy.

If they want to, yes. I don't even see how this country will stay united anyway.

Isn't there a way in which all of us who strongly support southern secession could help make it happen? I know the Governor of Texas is all for it - maybe if we could get him to form a secessionist party? I know he'd get my vote!

Why do you support the Southern secession?

Can other states, like Montana and Vermont, also be permitted to secede? Let's have 50 separate countries, in fact.

That could happen. It is technically legal. And The South isn't the only place thinking about it.
