I may be absurd but it makes the connected few a vast amount of money.

IMHO we shpould have gone to a straight single payer system and paid for it with an all income from all sources progressive income tax that only applied to the top 10% of the taxpayers. This is a win-win situation. We get good health care and they lose the money they use to bribe congress.

Keep private insurance... fund it thru a national lottery system.
Winner of the lottery wins tax free.
Universal healthcare by people who CHOOSE to play the lottery no new taxes no regulations just money to support those who need healthcare.

While yours at it remove the federal income tax and replace it with a 3% FEDEERAL sales tax on everything execpt food, clothing and housing. So in case govenrment was to pay for healthcare bills for those who needed it wouldnt be via income tax.
Plus with no income tax you can pay some bills :-)

Well, that's certainly a populous idea.

You mean, make Bill Gates pay for it all?

Couldn't resist - I've always had a problem with English.

Even Gates does not have enough money to pay for an universal single payer health care system but he could contribute 90% of his income every year and 50% of his net worth to the cause.

Really why.. because it doesnt force someone to pay for healthcare.
Just uses a system we already have in place in many states to fund something without TAXES!
What a concept.

I just added removing the income tax because if bills are high from everyone paying co-pays and deductables lets remove the income tax and give more money back to the people. Put a 3% federal sales tax and let the support the governments needs even if that includes healthcare after the lottery revenue.
I bet the govenrment would have more money on taxing items we buy at 3% then we get in income tax considering the write offs, those who don't file, the loop holes and the poor who arent paying anything and getting money!!!

Everyone pays a federal 3% sales tax to fund the government as you need.
No other taxes, or fees except for Social Security for now.
Food clothing and housing are exempt.

Show me how is wrong? You got a better idea that doesnt require new taxes, increase in taxes and a system were government controls everything?

Why does every idea you have take away money from people via force without them even having a reason to keep what they earn. Its funny you attack bill gates and point out the extremes I ask why tax anyone's income at all.
Place the the income tax with a federal 3% sales tax on everything we buy except food and clothing and housing.
Doesnt effect the poor and considering those are the things they need along with everyone else and remove the income tax.
People choose to spend, we already are spending our money on goods let the spending generate the revenue for government no matter why crazy thing they think they should run.
It becomes a new constitutional amendent, can not be INCREASED past 3% and no fees, other sources of income or creation of money for government.
States keep their tax laws as they see fit.

Is this so hard to believe or does it make it easier to control people and get them to vote for you when you use greed and jealously as your motivation.

The capital gains tax could keep being adjusted annually, to cover the whole cost of health care, which would be moderated by oversight, and might even go down at first. Not one cent of the tax would be paid from workers' wages, and the burden would not be significant on anyone. Nobody would pay more than 7.5% of their annual capital gains income for health care tax. The rich, who derive most of their income from capital gains, would continue to pay tax at a lower rate than those workers who are in a 25% bracket.

What's to object to?
To sell it, call it the Capitalist Gains Tax.

Looks like 49 senators blocked it, with a fairly even mix of (D)s and (R)s.

Do you have a list of (R)s as well that have got to go?

There's a good list in the link above..
Yes, I could come up with a list of Rs as well -- and easily.

I'm not an R by the way, was not happy with a lot of what Pres. Bush did (or failed to do), and I've pretty much had it with both parties.
