For the rest of us who choose to live in a civilized society there is a line drawn in the sand, and if you cross it you face the consequences or use resources to defend yourself. That's what happens when you choose to live in a civilized society. I believe there are some lovely international locales where vigilantism and anarchy are the preferred method of government, why don't you check them out if that's what you are looking for?
Relax. The majority of us are lemmings, as compared to anarchists...following along in an orderly fashion. On a road to who knows where...Conforming to the norms...

A relatively small percentage are "raging against the machine" so-to-speak. Eco-terrorists, survivalists, KKK, Neo-Nazis etc.

In today's world, we are branded America haters, elitists and unpatriotic if we question government actions. How absolutely unAmerican of us. We are indeed missing the point there.

It's all a natural extension of control.

Sorry, no. As much as a slimeball as this nut was, he was actually extremely intelligent. Unhinged and self-serving in the most disgusting of ways, and plenty of other nastinesses you could rightfully throw his way, but hardly stupid. People who knew him have made that clear.

Unhinged! What a great description of a desperate man.

So yes we are all on some wartch list.
Regarding the Patriot Act...This may become our modern day mantra...or at least a reminder..."Those who are willing to give up freedom for safety deserve neither."

And for all you old fogeys..."Step out of line the man come and take you away..."

Killing an innocent person and yourself is the exact opposite definition of brass rhino balls. Stack = Terrorist

our soldiers are killing innocent people by mistake everyday in Iraq and Aghanistan. what's so different here? Joe Stack waged war on the IRS and Vernon Hunter was a casualty of that one man's war. what's not to understand here? all the rhetoric and terrorist and american taliban talk needs to stop pronto. . this country used to applaud those who felt overtaxed by the gov't. remember the boston tea party? it wasn't because the tea tasted bad.

The difference is that American soldiers aren't deliberately targeting innocent people. You said it yourself, innocent people killed by mistake. Joe Stack didn't kill people by mistake. He aimed his plane at an occupied building. The fact that he was indiscriminate about whom he killed does not make the fact the he intended to kill less damning.

Joe Stack didn't deliberately target Vernon Hunter. he wasn't on a mission to "kill Vernon Hunter"...get real. it was no different.

We aim our Bunker Busters at "assumed" Al-Qaeda targets but end up killing women and children in apartment buildings adjacent. what do you call that?

just because CNN doesn't say we have collateral damage doesn't mean we don't. especially since our own run over IED by mistake all the time.

Joe Stack's "aim" was on point. he "aimed" at the IRS. I think he made his point.
