"Obama: “Every once in a while a moment comes where you have a chance to vindicate all those best hopes that you had about yourself, about this country, where you have a chance to make good on those promises that you made ... And this is the time to make true on that promise. We are not bound to win, but we are bound to be true. We are not bound to succeed, but we are bound to let whatever light we have shine.”
Vindicate best hopes you had about yourself, Mr. President, where you have a chance to make good on those promises you made? Which promises did you make true on, so far. Every promise you made in connection with just this bill has gone by the wayside. You say you are bound to be true? Do you know what "true" means? True to whom? To the country, the nation, the oath you took? Or, to yourself? Should you not recuse yourself in the midst of such apparent conflict? And about that light -- "we are bound to let whatever light we have shine” I am not waiting for it anymore. The light of hope you held out for the nation for a change for the better, for an end to politics as usual in DC, for an end to lobbyists and special interests, for no tax hikes for the middle class - that light of hope has gone out; those and more were just words. Empty rhetoric. Actions speak louder that words, as you have shown.
