News....Political websites and cable news buzzed yesterday with word that the family of Sarah Palin, former Republican vice-presidential candidate and darling of the conservative Tea Party protest movement, used to travel from Skagway, Alaska, to Whitehorse, Yukon, to receive health care when she was growing up.
Ms. Palin's memory is flexible. The Washington Post pointed out that, in 2007, she told a similar story, only the family travelled by ferry to Juneau rather than by train to Whitehorse for treatment.

Gosh darn, Sarah, maybe Canada's health care isn't so bad - The Globe and Mail

Its going to be very hard for many States to give up their Regulatory agency. We had this same issue with Deregulating Interstate Commerce in 1980. It took several years to finally declare all commerce Interstate in nature...and wrench away the State control on transportation within the state. Texas was the most corrupt , with the Texas Railroad Commission, which ruled with all sorts of potical tricks, big business kick backs , and inflated rates for transport.

Some things just need to be addressed at the Federal level.rather than having 50 different rules and regulations on so important a thing a health Care. The Insurance Lobby has mixed thoughts on this however. They still will want to pick and choose what States they sell policies in. If an area of the Country proves to be a looser for them , they want the option to bail , and or , not write coverage. Its called exposure.

In the most succinct form, the problem can be resolved to:
Customer => $$$ => Care giver
Unfortunately, the Care giver has been burdened with all manner of obligations and costs that migrate back into the retail price.

So now it's :
Customer => $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ => Care giver (who must pay for an office staff, higher taxes, a bureaucracy that oversees him, an insurance administrative overhead, malpractice insurance, loans, nurses, physician's assistants, a push them through the door ASAP routine, etc.)

The solution is to eliminate the socialist / government overhead on the caregivers, and the price for hiring them would drop. Furthermore, for those who donate to care for indigents, lower costs would mean more would be served.

Before 1935, there were plenty of charity wards in hospitals operated by religious and benevolent organizations.

Thanks to "benevolent" socialism, private charity doesn't have a prayer. (Pun intended)

Most Doctors are in favor of Single payer health car insurance. They are the ones on the front line , and should know. I have talked to many Physicians that have grown very tired of fighting with the Insurance companies. They have to hire additional office help , pick and chose procedures based of peoples coverage , and , in some cases , just withhold care because the insurance won't pay for it.

The federal Government is the largest insurer now. It is working. Ask any Politician who enjoys it , ask most Vets , Military personal , Postal Workers , very few do not like the system....The simplest way would have been to just expand Social security , but , no , now we fight with every special interest group for a plan that is acceptable. All the while also fighting big Insurance Lobby. If all this extra crap was cut out of the system , just eliminate Insurance altogether , so much could be saved in cost , that we could provide reasonable health care for all , at an affordable price.

This week we will see what the latest bill includes , I am encouraged to see Obama finally stand up and show some bully pulpit , to hell with the bipartisan crap, he gave them a chance , they blew it,...lets move forward. I only hope some form of single payer will be part of the bill , cause otherwise , the Insurance groups will just go on ..business as usual , controling our health care , choosing who will live or die in some cases , and destroying our economy one claim at a time. We can not go on this way much longer. We have the highest health care cost in the world , its time to do something drastic...before its too late...may already be sad to say for a lot of people out there who can't wait.

Default What IS in the bill, that we might really care about?

A revisit to the health care bill just in case you have gotten lost in all that has been going on with this issue in the house and senate…..be sure to pay attention as this may well be part of the change that Obama promised….and be sure to pay attention to the details before hand and read the “fine print” so that you will have no surprises after the fact!

Alberta has a public health care system, but also allows some private care....I don't live there so I'm not really up to speed....

Interesting that some of you are sooooo concerned about big insurance, their obscene profits, their control over citizens....who the heck do you think is behind this bill?!?!

AHIP's Karen Ignagni is openly admitting that the proposals they sent to the White House are "the essential building block of the reform bills." Uh, yeah...they are set up to get BILLIONS of government dollars in additions to gobs of money they'll be raking in with newly mandated insurance coverage. The insurance lobbists have been frequent and welcome visitors at the White House....it seems like it might be getting the desired outcome....BIG BUCKS FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANIES. With nothing in the proposed bills to contain costs or keep down the prices of premiums the insurance industry is wetting their pants waiting for it to pass.

But hey, some of you believe that something is better than nothing....enjoy your INSURANCE bill posing as health reform.

We do need the single payer option..and its mandates..other wise , I agree , its a boon win for Big Insurance. Howard Dean was right a month ago , when he told us this. Sort of tells us who is in the pockets of the politicans , ofcoarse we all knew that from day one.

My wife will appreciate it, because she has nothing, can't get nothing with our good, hard earned money.
