The numbers you gave make his age 79. That's about time to retire. I agree with the others that he's looking for an excuse. He saw Medicare/Medicaid come in early in his career and stayed in the profession, b/c he needed to work to support himself and his family. Now he's ready to retire and he's blaming the govt.
Are you pulling our legs?
How nice for you to decide that the man has outlived his value as a doctor due to his age.
He had a budding career, but no more. Cut down in the prime of his life. So sad.
Now he can write off all the bad debt for the uncompensated care that he has provided and collect social security. Oh, wait, I'm sure he won't do that. Big government being what it is and all.
I don't call BS. I call this an elder doctor who is taking a stand against a system that will tell him how to practice medicine. He is probably discouraged that the elected officials told the majority of Americans to go to Hades yesterday.
I know plenty of doctors who retired early because they were sick and tired of insurance companies telling them what, or what not, they could do. This was especially true when the trend became "HMOs".
I don't know if the doctor is lying, maybe he is using this as an excuse, only he knows. Isn't it age discrimination to suggest that an 80 year old can't work anymore. The guy doesn't look a day over 75, reminds me of Jack Lalanne.
