I haven't noticed any Hispanics that I come into contact with daily acting any differently toward me or giving me dirty looks.

I'm having a hard time mustering sympathy for I L L E G A L aliens (did you catch the ILLEGAL part?), though. The word 'illegal' in the phrase 'illegal alien' still means illegal to me. Tell me what would happen to me if I sneaked across the border into Mexico with no ID, passport or anything... and just tried to hang out there, or get a job? Also, what happens to illegal aliens in Mexico from, say, Guatemala? It sort of pisses me off when Mexico jumps up and down and starts crying that the US is being unfair with immigration. I don't really listen to words when making conclusions about such matters; I look at actions. If Mexico's illegal immigrant policy was even 10% as lax and 10% as much of a joke as ours is, I might even lend an ear. But it's not. If I went down there illegally, I'd very likely end up in jail. If an illegal Guatemalan enters Mexico, he might find himself looking down the barrel of a rifle. Political hypocrisy drives me apechit insane.

And that's not even mentioning other nations. I'd love to just hitch a plane to Ireland, Iceland, Greenland, Norway, Faeroe Islands, Argentina, Chile, Canada, New Zealand, etc... and just live there awhile, get a job, and hang out (without any documentation or ID, of course). But that ain't gonna happen. The only place I'd go is either to jail or onto a plane back to the US (deported). So I really don't think any other nation has a leg to stand on if they are pointing fingers at the US when it attempts to enforce it's laws.

I just hope our fair nation is as deadbeat lax on me as it is on illegals when I refuse to pay the health care mafia protection racket loot.

Honestly, you won't have to sneak across the border to Mexico. Your problems are when you try to sneak back in with all of your documents with you that prove that you live here.

See, everyone gets the illegal part. We are all up on what constitutes illegal.

I know a lot of Native Americans here in New Mexico, Navajo and Pueblo, who would take exception to that.

Do you think immigrants who have been legally admitted ought to be sent back if they jaywalk? Why can't you understand that illegal means illegal. If a legal immigrant jaywalks, send him back. Jaywalking, rape, expired meter, murder, unauthorized immigration, they're all the same. Zero tolerance.

Is you mind so tiny that the entire world fits into your "illegal immigration" thimble, and nothing else counts for anything?

The reason Mexico is hard on illegals from Guatemala is because they know perfectly well that the Guatemalans are just transiting Mexico to the USA, and the US holds Mexico responsible for anyone coming across the border from another country. Aside from that, Mexico wouldn't really care all that much, and there are still plenty of Guatemalans sneaking into Mexico.

An American that tries to remain illegally in another country would be taking pretty much the same chances that an alien is taking here. You might get caught and sent back, and you might not. In the case of Chile, you'd get stamped in for 6 months each time you enter, no visa required, just take the bus out to Argentina and re-enter every 6 months. You'd probably have no trouble working under the table. Expats call it a "visa run". Thailand is really easy, just keep going to Malaysia.

As for Europe, same deal, just keep going to Switzerland every six months, or Morocco, and get restamped when you return. It would be as easy to mix in with the crowd in Europe as it is in the USA.

Some countries are laughably easy. Paraguay you can stay forever, just on your passport entry stamp at the border. Cambodia, too, but you have to keep getting extensions, which are automatically granted.

Just my $0.02 - This new bill may create the largest controversy we have seen in a long time that could lead to a race war.

This illegal immigration problem is something that needs to be addressed. Problem is, there will be a lot of unintentional side effects. I believe, if you have proper documentation on you, you have nothing to worry about.

.
A race war could be very easily avoided, and if one occurs, it can be blamed on those who refused to avoid it.

Just regularize the status of those already here, with reasonable restrictions, and they won't go to war. If you don't, you will have a ten-million man underground, and that will not be pretty.

Then in ten years, regularize the next ten million and so on.

I wouldn't be talking to you.
