Nah. much too quick and neat.

First you need to skin him, slowly, with a dull knife, and soak him in a brine made of lemon juice and salt for a week or so.

Then draw and quarter, and cremate the remains so animals don't get to them.

Sick animals are bad. Wouldn't want to get PETA upset.

The 75mil cap only applies if they didn't violate laws, gross negligence etc. and it DOES NOT apply to clean-up costs.

Care to comment now?
Sure, I said I was going to research it, thanks for the help. Again, in retrospect, baaaaddd idea. Another reason we need to get off the oil teat.

100% agreement.

I just think if you look back at all the opportunities to enact tougher legislation, it's just too politically convenient for people to dump this one on Cheney. (Even the reps love doing this if they can)

What was Obama's comment not long ago about gulf drilling?
More of it and close to shore too.

You did look at the voting record right? Come on...you can do it....

I did. Again, baaaad idea, gulf oil drilling can never be 100% safe, but the effects of a leak are devastating to not just the environment, but several industries as well.

I didn't like the idea when Bush & co., suggested it, and I didn't like it when Obama suggested it.

Hindsight is always 20/20.

we will never be off the 'oil teat'

every thing we use now is made of a petrolium product

your computer is 90% plastic

even the Toyota Prius.....95% plastic

the roads we drive on....asphualt...a petrioum product

Granted, but it's power comes from the fact it is used as fuel. Can you honestly say that the same amount of crude is used in manufacturing the above and refining it for fuel, and using it for electricity?

That is just not going to happen.

Google how many products are made from petroleum and find out that we can't do without it. I could name 6,000 or more, but we can start here. This is a small list, but look at each item and see how many lives would be touched if they didn't have these items.

Footballs
Football helmets
Basketballs
Tennis Rackets
Perfumes
Golf bags
Ink
Upholstery
Transparent Tape
Surf Boards
Life Jackets
Artificial limbs
Safety Glasses
Eye Glasses
Crayons
Luggage
Combs
Heart Valves
Dentures
Fan belts
Oil Filters
CD and DVD's
Guitar Strings
Toothbrushes
Paint Rollers
Dice
Water Pipes
Parachutes
etc, etc.

We are not going to be able to stop oil production any time soon. We need to come up with better solutions for clean up. Making mistakes helps us to resolve some of these issues.

I don't know why people freak out when accidents or mistakes are made. It's how we learn to do better.

What did Thomas Edison say about the light bulb, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."

I understand the scope of items made by petroleum, but amount for the use for fuel eclipses anything used for manufacturing. When I mentioned getting off the oil teat, I meant fuel oil.
