The SSN did not verify because SPECIAL INDICATORS PRESENT. Like, um, the Social Security Administration flagged this particular SSN because it belonged to the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.

I could have been vacationing in Montana and decided to apply for my Social Security Number while there, and that would not affect the validity of the Social Security Number in any way or degree. The Social Security Number doesn't have to reflect where you live or where you were born or any other demographic data.

Illegally. The posted Tax Returns had redacted numbers. A birther took the pdf's and revealed the SSN by removing the redaction due to poor redaction on the person who posted the tax returns.
That however doesn't absolve the SSA to confirm or deny that is Obama's number

06814 = Danbury, CT zip code.
A simple clerical error by the person who manually inputed the zip codes of the application could result in the issue of a CT number to someone living in Hawaii.

This all kinda reminds me of my grandmother's dementia. She first started thinking my grandfather was poisoning her so he could do the dirty with their neighbor. SSNs have never been assigned based on where you live. They were (in the 1970s) assigned based on the zip code from which the application was mailed.
